Morinth acts on instinct, Samara on principle. There is nothing you can do to dissuade Morinth from killing. It's in her nature. But if you don't cross the code, who knows? You might get to spoon with Samara someday.

Ok firstly Samara acts on a very crappy principle. Secondly Morinth comes across as a completely rational and in control person.

Morinth never threatened me and already HAD her chance. Samara threatened me and won't get her chance.
Notice the difference.

Well I killed Morinth because, while I think the way they treat ardat-yakshi to begin with is rather horrid, the fact that Morinth went on to knowingly kill a bunch of innocent people makes her a serial killer so, yeah. Simple solution.

Even simpler by the way the dialog options played out. "Morinth is more useful to me," complete with some kind of evil-sounding voice distortion. Really dudeshep? I mean if it was something about the injustice inflicted on Morinth to begin with that might have been more palatable and left me more room for feeling conflicted. Except not because of my reasoning previously mentioned. But instead the only way to recruit Morinth was by taking that rather douchebaggy dialog option.

I'm aware this debate has probably played out many times in the past, but I only just recently finished the game.

I always kill Morinth but I agree that Samara`s justicar code makes no sense.

Totally understandable, but the thing is the whole squad ME2 squad: Rogues, assassin's, psychos, thieves, mercs, geth, outlaws, completed with a xenohating crew. If you ask me Morinth fits right in.

Again totally agree here. But also in my opinion Morinth IS more useful for the mission at hand. She does a lot more good with her current actions than all the stupid crap she has done before, even though a lot was for survival. And again Samara had done a lot worse and Morinth seems like she unlike Samara can be reasoned with in the long run.

Actually, Morinth is the very definition of a psychopath. She lacks emotion, remorse for her actions and is a liar. She may claim to "seek freedom" but that isn't what drives her. She is addicticted to empowerment she receives from killing her mates and continues in this vein to satisfy said addiction.

You're well educated in this field. Uncle Joe is proud of you.

How is Morinth hotter? They look exactly the same. That's why Morinth can pose as Samara on your crew.

She is younger, ergo = hotter.

I sure hope you really don't think that

Wait a second, if Morinth kills you from mind melding sex, does her condition apply to regular physical sex? I'm genuinely curious.

There still seems like there would be enough anatomical similarities between them a human women. So she could theoretically have sex without killing Shepard?

Theoretically asari wouldn't have a clitoris, since they are all females, and never males. Having physical sex with asari is like someone asking to rub their hand on your back or to stick their thumb into your ear, because that get's em off.

One of my Shepards killed Morinth during Samara's LM. Then Samara died during the SM. Best way to deal with this issue is eliminating both sides of the equation.

No space succubus hitting on me or justicar chasing me during a reaper attack.

That's pretty damn kinky, but it does raise a problem. It  seems to be that the sex between Morinth and Shepard would only work for one party at a time, but one of those times could kill her (Shepard). Ok, so sex may be a problem but some sort of platonic relationship could easily come about between the two, it would be believeable since Morinth has basically no one in her life in any way.

Your argument makes no sense whatsoever. "I chose Morinth because I can't trust Samara." That's basically what your assertions boil down to. You say that you are worried because Samara says that she may have to kill you if you force her to do something incredibly dishonorable, so the question is what were you thinking of using her for that would meet that criteria?

Further, Morinth is a sociopath. That means that she is loyal to nobody, but herself and would stab you in the back in a heartbeat if she felt like it. Try romancing her and see if she doesn't. So I don't really have any idea what you are talking about.

Chances are you just like bad girls and the sociopath appealed to you and you went with her rather than the goody-two-shoes. Sure, you can lie to yourself if you like, but what's the point? "Best tactical choice," yeah right. I don't know about you, but when I make tactical choices I don't bring along a sociopath for the ride.

Actually Shepard did both at a time with Liara, if romanced.

And yeah, platonic relationship could pretty much work.

( Bold ) Samara?

Also - trying to survive for 400 years, and then risking life on a suicide mission for someone, as a way of gratitude - totally sociopathic.

Oh, D.Kain...

"I like going to dark-dangerous places. I don't understand the obsession with safety. Some of us choose differently."

The suicide mission was an extreme vacation for her, and she loved the thrill of it. Weren't you paying attention to her "Recruitment mission?" Graditude had naught to do with it.

Oh, right. Who am I talking to?
