all the news and info will be in here so please keep it that way

Capcom has officially announced Resident Evil 6. The game will be produced by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who previously produced Resident Evil 4.

It will be coming on November 20th to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and a PC version will follow later. The game will feature both single-player and co-op gameplay.

According to Capcom, the game's story is as follows: "It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President's side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world's population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left."

Resident Evil 6 will also receive preorder bonuses at GameStop, Best Buy and Amazon. According to Capcom, each retailer "will each get an exclusive map that will function with various modes in the game."

A viral site teased Resident Evil 6 earlier this week, using the tagline "No Hope Left" and depicting a biohazard sign on graffiti and billboards. Videos hinted at a post-apocalyptic story, and the site was later tied to Capcom through its Whois data and billboard advertisements.

Resident Evil 5 was one of the best-reviewed games of 2009, despite its co-op elements being a controversial departure for the franchise. It went on to sell over five million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling Resident Evil game ever

Be sure to check out our exclusive first details on Resident Evil 6, including the fact that Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy will be playable characters.

I think it looks really good. Two seperate campaigns (Or you change between leon and chris) and it looks like a coop campaign? It looks better than RE5. At least zombies are back. I'm not a die hard RE fan. I just got RE2 today and plan on playing that then buying RE3 then maybe getting to RE1. They just showed action highlights to catch more people. I'm sure they learned from RE5. The hitman games do the same thing

I hope there isn't more action than in the previous game, it was just plain stupid how they turned a survival horror franchise into a complete action rip-off.

Anyway, if you're going to play RE2, know that you're about to play what's probably the best title of the entire series, only followed by REmake.

Haha.  They turn everything into action games these days to appeal to a wider demographic of ppl.  RPGs, Horrors, Shooters (what happened to tactical shooters like Raven Shield, Ghost Recon 1 and SWAT games ?)   Bohemia seems to be the only devs still making semi-realistic tactical shooters anymore. This is  why i mostly play older games.

This is what I think. I think chris will be more action (He's a soldier and part of a large operation) and leon more horror (In a city like RE2).

Personally, I think it looks quite good. RE4 is definitely my favourite entry in the series (having played all the main numbered REs as they released) - getting the balance between creepy horror, limited supplies, and action to an almost perfect level. RE5 went way too far with the action slant.

I love Leon so much more than Chris - glad to see he's in the game at least. And glad to see ZOMBIES back in action! Hopefully the co-op won't completely ruin the game like it did RE5.

I don't think it will be co-op, they never show Leon and Chris in the same place at the same time.

Also, MR. PRESIDENT!!!

This looks very generic. The only Resident Evil I've played in 5, and its only ok. Nothing necessarily special

No they didn't - but it looks like IGN have already confirmed that each will have a partner who will follow them around for the whole game.

I didn't see that. I was looking forward to a single player RE, but I did enjoy the co-op of the last game (mostly). We never got past that boulder punching part.

Edit:  That article says that there will be both co-op and single player. So maybe you don't switch between characters in a single playthrough, it's just multiple campaigns. That sounds pretty interesting.

Hopefully the AI is better and getting stuff from their inventory is better. Yahtzee pretty much sums it up in his RE5 review

One of the articles on IGN says single player and co-op and another one says that Chris and Leon have partners and the story will overlap at one point. I'm not sure which one is right.
