That I could do without. I really didn't enjoy the stupidity of there being 10 types of the same gun. The Russians used to build dumbed down export versions of stuff most mostly complex machines not firearms but no one has 10 models of a gun. Yeah for tedium!

Indeed. I very much appreciate that the writers took their own plot seriously enough to not make the Reapers as introduced in ME1 defeatable by pure military might in ME3. The key to winning is going to be knowledge and technological ingenuity beyond the military, not just cannons. That's what I always wanted. As for the Deus Ex Machina accusation - find X and push magic button Y, that's *not* how it will be.Sidney wrote...

Attrition is the way the Reapers win. With the ability to create new forces with indoctrination and husks they can continue to build and grow as the conflict grinds on. The history shows they mount a blitz on the Citadel and then grind down the rest of the civs.
You knew there had to be something that provided a magic button effect to stop them - computer virus. super EMP gun or some other bit. They're too tough. Bioware made the point of having one of them blow through the Citadel forces like they didn't exist and now they're sending a lot of them. Just getting a bunch of ships was never gonna be enough.

Apart from the folks who are claiming the Reapers could be defeated with a tablespoon of sacrificing some squadmate, a quarter cup of picking the bottom-right dialogue option and a dash of cinnamon as opposed to the necessary plot developments it seems we're all pretty thoroughly happy this morning.
