clearly it's EA's fault, they thought darker lighting in the Normandy would cater to the GoW crowd.roflchoppaz wrote...

WHY? Are we seriously complaining about the lighting in the Normandy now?S.A.K wrote...
Not fancy right. But you should be able to see where you are going without using a flash light.Mesina2 wrote...

The Normandy looks so dark inside(like in ME1). It should be bright like in ME2.<_<
Normandy SR2 is now a military ship.
Military doesn't look fancy.
If they do, they'll lose war.

Are there many spoilers in those new vids?
I didn't think so. Most footage was of action-y stuff. There's a bit about TIM that may be a spoiler for you, but I don't know what you know so far.
Well, I haven't read the leaked script and don't want to know too much about the story before actually playing the game. I don't know much about TIM's intentions in ME3 yet.
Well, if you watch it with the sound off you won't be spoiled, and you'll get to enjoy the action stuff.

The new lighting is really weird - did they not trust Cerberus' lighting systems?
All the lights doubled as surveillance gear.

I'm not saying your ****ing about it, I just find it funny/pathetic that some people are genuninely complaining about the lighting for really no reason.roflchoppaz wrote...
I'm not ****ing, at least I think I don't, but why do I have to put contrast settings on maximum just so I could see what's happening on my own ship? This isn't a tiny nitpick that's overblown like BSN usually does. I can't see anything like this.

Your monitor/TV must be pretty dark, then, because the CIC looks just as dark as the SR1's. Which wasn't all that hard to see in, tbh.
If you're just miffed because you liked the Cerberus lighting better than the new lighting, I'd probably call that "****ing", which was exactly what I did when I saw SR2's Cerberus lighting for the first time.
Edit: Suck it up, dood.

On the whole Normany lighting controversy: why don't y'all wait to see how the lighting in the actual game looks, instead how it looks in a compressed video stream and/or even lower quality screencaps taken from a compressed video stream, before going into full RAEG mode? Just a thought.
Exactly what I was thinking. There is an alraming amount of stupid people in these forums, Chris and the rest of em have the patience of greek gods.

Shepard's the only living being in the entire galaxy who holds the cipher, and so he's the only one who can interface with their technology and properly understand the language since it's made clear in the first game that the Prothean psyche is not something that can be emulated, even by Reapers since their Prothean Reaper failed. I also think that the Reapers changed the Collectors so much that they're no longer recognised by Prothean technology nor can they understand their archives and such.
This explains why the Reapers take such a vivid interest in Shepard during ME2. I believe at the beginning of the second game, they realised that whatever the Proteahsn left behind could one day be uncovered by Shepard, and so they tell the Collectors to destroy him. That fails.
Perhaps after learning more, they decide they need to know more about what the Protheans left behind so Harbinger instructs his minions to preserve the body if possible. I'm thinking maybe the reason they chose humans to create the next Reaper went beyond efficiency reasons, and was designed as a trap for Shepard which would play upon his emotions. Also, had it been another species Cerberus would not have become involved, and likely not Shepard in any significant capacity.
As we know, that fails too. So by ME3, Shepard's roaming around free holding the key to the stopping of the Reapers. The Reapers orchestrate the entirety of 'Arrival' to implicate Shepard, intending for him to destroy the relay and be put on trial at Earth.
The Reapers then move to attack Earth, the nearest planet to Mars where the secrets of the Reapers are buried. I think they intend to have Shepard escape and then head to Mars in an attempt to uncover whatever the Protheans left behind, which might also be useful to the Reapers as well as organics.
At this point though, Cerberus gets involved. The Illusive knows what the Reapers are trying to do but doesn't tell Shepard because he wants to keep him in the dark so he can use whatever the Protheans left behind for his own ends. He tries to have Shepard captured for the cipher, but again Shepard battles his way out, perhaps with the information. The Illusive Man sends Kai Leng after Shepard, and has his troops disrupt Shepard's efforts so he'll have few allies on his side, forcing him to pin hopes on finding whatever the Protheans left behind so he can use it to his own ends.
Now the Reapers are concerned and are just trying to kill him. So we've got this three-way struggle for power; Shepard wants to use what the Protheans left behind to stop the Reapers, the Illusive Man wants to use it to control them, and the Reapers want the legacy destroyed or bent to their own ends.
It all comes back to Shepard in the end. I think this would be a great way to tie everything to the main character of the trilogy, because in ME2 he was really just a strong leader who killed a Reaper and it did sort of feel that someone else could do the job.
Of course, this is just conjecture based on what official info we've been given. I haven't seen the leaked script at all, so it could be very different.
