I suppose this would belong more in the gameplay forum but for some reason there's no "post new topic" button there or I'm doing something wrong since I can't find anything on these new forums  

I have a question about Sten's sword sidequest.

I've visited the dwarf Dwyn and convinced him to return the sword but he just gives me the key to his lockbox.
Thing is there's no lockbox anywhere... I've searched his house and the village and didn't found it (and yes I pressed TAB). There are just no containers in his house.

Am I looking in the wrong place or is it a bug?

The reason the gameplay forum wont let you post is because you havent registered your game yet...



On the left go to profile, register your game and then enter the key for the PC or the UPC from the console version, whichever you have.

There is a bug in that quest - if you don't go to Orzammar first and talk to the NPC there, but just stumble across Dwyn, he gives you the key but the lockbox doesn't get activated.



BTW, you need to register your game to post in other forums.

If you can't post in the gameplay forums, then you need to register your game.

Profile -> Register Games.

The chest should be in one of the rooms behind Dwyn inside his house. You can't interact with it until you receive his key, so if it's not showing up when you TAB, I'm sorry to say, but it looks like a bug.

EDIT: Looks like I'm the slowest of the lot, haha.

I thought I already talked to the guy in Orzammar but I probably loaded a save and forgot to talk to him again. The lockbox is there now

I suppose I should register DA now, I didn't think of that before. This new forum is a bit confusing for me. Thank you all for the help

i had this once where the chest didn't activate. out of curiosity i pick-pocketed dwyn and he had the sword on him, and the quest completed (otherwise) normally.

It's a bug. It's just happened to me. I visited all the NPCs in the correct order and got the key from Dwyn. But the lockbox in the back room is unselectable and sometimes disappears completely.

It have got to be a bug. It doesn't activate for me either and it's pretty annoying. I tried picpocketing Dwyn but in my game he didn't have the sword on him. Wow the rest of you wrote in this forum 10 months ago....then i assume that they made a patch for it. And now i've got to seach for it -.-
