Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth

Simply amazing - one of the best games I've ever played, and it should run fine on your older PC.

I really want to play that! It's kinda expensive on orignal xbox though and same with pc. Steam should put it on there

I got this game from Steam.

O it is on steam! I swear it wasn't. Maybe I'm thinking of GOG. I am so buying that when I can. Just hope vista runs it (Not worried about graphics or anything just vista actually opening it).

Some of the Steam cheap titles are quite excellent like Trine and Torchlight.

There's plenty of sad moments in Mother 3(which I've no intention of spoiling). It's a significantly different breed from earthbound. It's still got that zany humor in there, but it definitely has a more emotional tone to it and feels like it finally got a worthwhile narrative.

Alice: Madness Returns. Great game that didn't get enough attention.

There's a few things here and there that bog down Alice: MR(i.e. Excessive use of minigames), but it's an otherwise faithful sequel nonetheless. The original didn't really feel like it needed a sequel, but Madness Returns works for what it is. I felt like it belonged in the high 7's or low 8's category. It's still worth playing if you're into the series.

I really want to play that! It's kinda much on orignal xbox though and same with pc. Steam should put it on there. I've never read the Cthulu mythos though. I want to and plan to but never got around to buying them.

Your horrible misspellings of his name make Great Cthulhu angry.

Hmm.. Heroes of Might and Magic V? Plus Tribes of the East and Hammers of Fate.

The Witcher 1?

Gothic 3 with the latest Community Patch? Though you may need a decent rig for that one. But it's a pretty awesome and difficult sandbox.
Gothic 2 is even better, has a much better story and characters, but the graphics might look a bit dated now. Also it's very small compared with Gothic 3, which is huge.

Metro 2033 (also for Xbox 360) if you like atmospheric shooters.

Vampire the Masqurades: Bloodlines. It might work, my current system isn't great and it works on mine.

The Darkness. A fantastic game, it got great ratings but as far as I know it didn't sell very well. The sequel is looking pretty good too (you can check out the demo on xbox live now) although it's got a completely different art direction and Jackie's voice has changed.

Mirrors edge. Can be frustrating at first but this is a gem that was overlooked, imo. Great art, great music, unique gameplay, you could find it cheap so it's worth it.

KOTOR 2. It got blasted by some fans and critics becuase it was unfinished (not Obsidians fault though) but even then the game was great and did alot of things better than the first KOTOR.

Alan Wake. Pretty much the same as the Darkness, good ratings, bad sales. I guess this is becuase both games focus on story over gameplay (the gameplay is good in both but the story is the selling point for both)

Edit: Thanks to the above poster I was reminded about Metro 2033, I'll add that to the list too. If it's shooting mechanics were better and the A.I was slightly better on the humans this would be a classic.

Conker Live and reloaded or Conkers Bad fur day. LnR is a remake but both are pretty pricey seeing as LnR was stopped being made after a few months or years or so. BfD is probably way over priced wherever you see it but both are great and IMO not recognized enough

I'm not really sure why so many people seem to love Vampire:Bloodlines.
I've picked it up last year during a Steam sale and found it not really to my liking. It's basically an old-school adventure game with rpg/vampire elements. Horribly linear (though alternative paths to goal are often possible, depending on specialization), where events and locations unlock in a strictly specific order and with a terrible combat system, which just might be the worst I have seen.

I like Alpha protocol alot but I hoenstly wouldn't say it's even nearly as good as DE:HR, although how it handles choices and consequences is better, but everything else not so much.

It did. :P A million sold.

Still haven't gotten to trying it, so can't really put an informed opinion in.

Pretty much. As far as platformers go, it definitely was trying to go against the tide of generically happy protagonists. From Wikipedia:

The game was originally going to be titled Conker's Quest, and later Twelve Tales: Conker 64. Early screenshots suggested the game would be targeted at a family and young audience and feature cute characters and colorful settings. Rare had a history of making games of this sort, such as Banjo-Kazooie and Diddy Kong Racing, and at first Conker appeared to be similar. However, Rare started to fear that the game would not be differentiated enough from other titles, and critical mockery of "yet another cute platformer" caused the game design to be overhauled.

Speaking of underrated games. Anyone here who has played Alpha Protocol? I've heard some good things about it in terms of story, with the exception of gameplay, so I thought I wanted to hear some thoughts if anyone here liked the game. Might give it a shot then =)

EDIT: Seems like I need to read before posting :P
