I smell a DA2 War coming. Better nab an air freshener. It's good, but not great. And that's all I'm saying about that.
Not really surprising. It's almost a bit like BioShock. It sold very well, but your average schmo won't know it unless it's Call of Duty this or Mario that.I'm suprised, every time I mention it to gamers I know 9 out of 10 of them have never even heard of it! Lol.

He's got a point.
Velvet Assassin is a WWII stealth game that takes a lot of thinking but its rather fun and could introduce a thing or two to SC games. You've got to be very attentive though, the AI is suprisingly good considering when it came out.
Splinter Cell Double Agent has a consequence system similar to Alpha Protocol and lets you do thing that really do affect the campaign. Probably one of the best spy games ever made.

I think it got bashed because perhaps it took too much patience? Either way its a game that will stick with you, even if its got one silly element of making you addicted to morphiene.
And yes, it was kind of a sad ending especially since I got attached to Violette.

It's not always what you say, but how you say it. There's plenty of room for criticism on both games...however, I think there are specific biases that are visible in speech that would determine whether someone may or may not be an RPG elitist.
I'll agree with the latter.But it was quite smart and really challenging.

Perhaps not all of them are but I found a lot of the ones that complain on this forum about both games just wan't more BG and/or DA:O clones instead of variety.. I beleive I've already had an argument with a user called bussinrounds(sp?)who hated all modern RPGs saying it's Bioware/EA jus trying to make money and pander to the console crowd. It's not just those two games either. Fallout 3 and the TES games are criticisized heavily around here because they're not "traditional"RPGs.

Perhaps you are correct, but I am not one of them. I don't care for games enough to be Elitist about them. I don't care what's "traditonal" or otherwise.
As for DA2, my personal opinion was that it was tedious. Where DA:O had completely drawn me in and made me an addict within the first half an hour, I couldn't even muster the energy or enthusiam to play DA:2 for that long. There were improved elements (the combat for one) but the rest left a stale taste. That said, I'm not sitting here suggesting everyone should agree with me. I know people enjoyed it and that's fine.

DA2 had bigger problems than the streamlining IMO. The main reason I disliked it was because the scope of the game was tiny, it didn't look very spectacular, and I found the story to be mostly weak. These are problems that anyone can identify with, not just the rpg elitists.
