Still dont know why alpha protocol get those low scores. It nearly as good as Deus Ex Human Revolution.

I like Alpha protocol alot but I hoenstly wouldn't say it's even nearly as good as DE:HR, although how it handles choices and consequences is better, but everything else not so much.

Being a fan of the both Deus Ex and DE:IW, I think DE:HR is a good game(although I hate how they handled the ending), but I actually prefer Alpha Protocol. I have completed multiple playthroughs with each just as fun as the first, but I still have not had any desire to start a second playthrough on DE:HR.

Neverwinter Nights 2. The original campaign and Mask of the Betrayer are totally worth the asking price these days. You find NWN2 with both expansions cheap at most digital download sites. Or for an extra $10 if you want a boxed version. After the campaigns there is a plethora of community developed adventure packs at NWVault to try. Most of them are short compared to a full game, but the great stories some of them tell more than make up for it.

Alpha Protocol -  Great game that got dragged into the mud for no real reason, I do know some peopel said it was buggy but I played threw the PC version several times without encountering any problems.

Yar's Revenge (Revision) - Not for everyone but great if you enjoy rail shooters.

Sonic & Sega All-Star racing - Picked up on Steam for $5 this weekend.  Surprisingly it's a lot of fun and a nice game to just sit down and enjoy.  Mario Kart style game with some interesting changes.

Hydrophobia: Again another unique game giving some interesting Water physics and using the environment to defeat enemies.

It's not underrated, Ghost, it's just terrible.
It's worse than DA2 in the coma-inducing department and that's saying something.

Are you going to take that, Ghost?

*Liked DA2 alot* ._.

Anyho, I don't really know many underrated games. Most games I've bought have been pretty popular. You could try WET or Brutal Legend if you have a thing for music, and moderately good gameplay. Both had amazing soundtracks.

If you have a 360, go to the indie-games, and get I MAED A GAME WITH ZOMBIES INIT... It's also spelled with a few numbers. :P
It's in the top-rated indie-games section though, so it shouldn't be difficult to find.

Oh yes, NWN2. I concur.
The Neverwinter games with the custom community content and their online play option provide an endless stream of enjoyment.

Risen: a very underrated role playing game. this game just feels so realistic
Alpha Protocol: it has a very well crafted branching story
Dragon Age II - Legacy : despite the mediocrity of DA2, this little dlc is a good one
Fallout: New Vegas - Honest Hearts: best dlc for new vegas. do not know why people worship old world blues

I might as well list the games that you guys posted that I already played:
Duke Nukem Forever

Dragon Age II (and all of its DLCs and I enjoyed it. Only thing about the game I hated was the copy and paste dungeons and the blatant fanservice in the 3rd act.)

Jade Empire(LOVE and want a sequel)

As for games I am planning to pickup based on the list:
Alpha Protocol (are there any resent patches for that game)
Fallout New Vegas (Finally played FO3 and loved it)
Bioshock 2 (Loved Bioshock)
Nier

Timeshift (not sure if this one is underrated but still a good game nonetheless)

It had one trippy moment with the time-shifting enemies. In normal time, they'd be one big blur to you, as you would be to most while TSing. In Time-Shift mode, you'd see them as this rainbow spectrum of their figures slowly moving around. It was a bit on the psychadelic side. The rest of the game didn't really impress me.

And since I'm here anyways...

Metal Storm for the NES. Fantastic Boss Battles, incredible graphics for its time(right before SNES popped in), and a very neat gravity mechanic that was simple but entertaining. No real story, but it's a great mech game that's rare to find.
