Heavy Rain is AMAZING as well, as someone said though I know it's definitely one of those you either love it or hate it deals.

Ok I am not pick on your tastes as you have every right to like ****ty games however please for the love of god do not call Heavy Rain "underrated". If any thing Heavy Rain is the mother****ing poster child of overrated, same goes for LA Noire.

At the time when Heavy Rain came out everyone was harping on about how great the game was and anyone who dared see the game for what it was was labeled a COD fanboy looking for a fix of action to appease his ADHD addled brain, just look at this review, just look at the multiple choice questions, either you think the game is a stunning piece of art or you are a shallow minded philistine who only cares about blowing **** up and female cleavage, however when it comes to the scene of the happy family I like to choose option D, A cliche scene of the stereotypical perfect family before their perfect life inevitably gets turned upside down, Commando used the happy family opening scence too but you dont see anyone citing it as a great piece of art.

But it is the same story with every review and with so many pretentious jackasses just waiting for someone to criticise the game so they can label them an uncultured COD fanboy it makes me wonder if anyone actually enjoyed the game on its merits or whether they are just pretending to like the game just to appear cultured or at the very least avoid the finger that would label them a COD fanboy just like an Emperor who wore a tunic made out of non existant silk for the fear that he would appear unfit for his station if he diddn't.

The exact same thing happened when LA Noire came out as well.

Tropico 4 and Lost Odyssey. Both very underrated games in my opinion.

NWN1, as many judge the game on the OC alone, and not the huge solo and m/p options made available.

Bulletstorm was a hoot. Too short though, but great game IMO for what it was. If you're offended by swearing though, take a pass on it. And as a side note, Steven Blum & Jennifer Hale voice two of the main characters.

Totally agree with you. When it came out it got way too much praise and one of my friends even tried ot convince me to play it. I just don't like neither traditional adventure games nor thrillers. It's the same reason why I disliked LA Noire, detective games don't interest me at all(not just games, not a fan of modern thriller books or films either)

The Swearing in Bulletstorm was so bad it was hilarious, case in point (WARNING, CONTAINS SWEARING, lots and lots of swearing)

I don't think anyone who dislikes the game is some COD fanboy or what have you. There are genuinely good reasons to dislike the game: LA Noire and Heavy Rain both have very iffy narrative points. HR adds the bizzare blackouts and leaves it hanging for reasons determined long after the game's launch: Essentially deleted content. I really didn't care for LA Noire's ending, or the driving-around content afterwords. Collecting gold reels? Really?

But the parts that bug me about the game is greatly overweighed by the reasons to enjoy it. Heavy Rain felt like an ideal adventure game to me that relied less on collecting inventory items to use in very dubious ways, and more about letting your choices have very serious consequences - anywhere from character death, to imprisonment, and beyond. The conditions and consequences for the endings felt very specific and believable.

LA Noire really required you to pay attention and made it feel like a genuine life experience, not just waiting for them to finish talking so you can pick "Obvious Choice A" instead of "Goodbye" or "Pointless Choice B". It challenged you in unexpected ways. I wish the cases had been tied more strongly to a central narrative, but whatever.

Commando used the happy family opening scene too but you dont see anyone citing it as a great piece of art.

Happy family opening scenes justify a game as art? Interesting, do go into detail on that one.

Resonance of Fate. It's a good ole' turn based RPG, with GREAT action. The story is weak, but the comedy makes up for it.

Read some reviews for it. For PS3 and Xbox 360.

But the OP said that they only have an Xbox and PC.
Which is a shame because if they had a PS2 or a PS3 I would totally agree on that recommendation.

I will have to take your word on that Slick as I never found any reason to play through the game more than once to view the different endings but does it really make up for the fact that the story (which was supposed to be the games main selling point) was a complete and utter shambles? For a game to sell on story alone that story needs to be pretty damn good which Heavy Rain's really wasnt, not to mention the game tries way to hard to be something it isnt, it tried way to set up these emotionaly moving scenes without putting any real context behind the scene to give it the depth needed to actually make it emotionally moving and believable. If anything you will be questioning the games massive plot holes rather than being engrossed by the story, yes we know that with how hard the game is trying to set Ethan up to look like the killer that he isnt the killer but why the hell does he keep blacking out and waking up with an Origami figure in his hand?

If by "unexpected ways" you mean not at all then I totally agree with you, of course there was some areas of the questioning portion of the game where you had to pay attention to past clues to catch the people out on their lies but in the end these scenes are little more than a game of "spot the dodgy face" and when it comes to mission success your performance in these scenes dont actually matter at all. No matter how badly you **** up a mission it will always end with Cole Phelps finding the culprit, not you, Cole Phelps, you dont solve **** and instead just watch everything as it plays out. Of course there are missions where you yourself get to choose between 2 suspects to pin the murder on but this is not based on the players brilliant problem solving and detective skills as NEITHER OF THE SUSPECTS ARE THE MURDERER! You are totally right that it wasnt a game of "Obvious Choice A vs Pointless Choice B", instead it was Pointless Choice A vs Pointless Choice B. Of course it would have been nice if they could have given us more information to make a more informed choice like allowing us to test the blood on the boot to see if it really was rabbit blood, but then again it is not like that would actually matter as neither suspect is the murderer anyway.

Hey dont look at me, Im not the one claiming that Heavy Rain's opening scene was so brilliant that the only way that you can not like it is if you are a shallow minded philistine. Also how the hell did that bird die?

Fallout New Vegas (also Dead Money, in my opinion it is the best DLC).

I thought the first Timesplitters was exclusive to the PS2? I had the 2nd & Future Perfect on the original Xbox.
