I hope more people will take this protest seriously, since this is the freedom of the internet we are fighting for.

Well technically if you payed off your preorder you already bought it and your just picking it up or having it mail to you (rationalizing).
Yeah, I'm just picking up my CE in March too.
Solidarity intact!

March Blackout: a plan to not buy, view, or download (legally or otherwise) any game, movie, or piece of music during the entire month of march.
So avoiding basically any media for the month of March? That sounds literally impossible.

ME3 I already have paid for and has been for months - so its kind of a loop hole I guess - but it will be the only thing I get in March.
SOPA may be an American issue - but Internet censorship is a global issue.

And what exactly would be the point of that? For I completely fail to see it...

March will be a big empty void in their profit margins - hopefully.

Whose profit margins? Every business that has something to do with media? I still don't see why people would waste time on that. I get that a lot of people want companies like EA or Ubisoft to see a big empty void in their profit margins to make them realize just how rediculous their methods are but hitting the entire media sector like this... I don't see why. Unless there is some kind of point to all of this that I'm not aware of

Their methods? I'm not sure what you mean.
Its not about their methods - its about the large amount of the media industry that is lobbying support for SOPA and PIPA - or other types of changes that could lead to censorship on the internet.
Basiclaly its a big arse protest to say to the media industry - what you want to look at doing is wrong.

Ahh that. I knew about those rediculous censorship laws SOPA and that other one. Just wasn't aware the blackout was in response to that. Europe isn't affected by that law (and any politican thinking of it should be shot imo) so we don't hear that much about it.

I'm as anti-corporate as they come, but I have not waited two years for this game to let some ridiculous boycott stop me from buying it. There are better ways to protest against the corporations, anyway. Like making Inside Job 2: Electric Boogaloo.

So please, do whatever you can to support this cause. Even, if that means you won't go to the cinema to see a movie, or downloading one less track tune from ITunes that month. Every little bit counts. The more successful this protest is, the better it will be for all of us in the end.
Thnx, and I am proud for everyone that will be/is taking action against the shameful things that are happening nowdays.

Same, I'm in Australia, but you can bet your backsides that media groups in different countries are watching very intently to see if the laws can get passed.
We've got a few politicians here who would love to see it passed then work like buggery to get something similar implented (indeed, they sort of have been trying.)

That's one of the few advantages of the European union. Such a law would be against several treaties so there's no way a law like this would be pushed through quietly. I understand a lot of americans are scared now that the president basically said 'no' to the entire law that it would be pushed through quietly...

It's simple, even though my love for Bioware is immense:
hate for EA ( which supports SOPA) + hate for SOPA > love for BW.
I'm sorry...

Other countries are affected by the law. In the sence the goverment will block access to foreign sites. But this protest is really silly. So, there's no sales in March but we have record sales in April. It's better to raise awareness and have people calling their congressmen and contuning to call their congressmen.

This protest IS about raising awareness. Imagine, if the entertainment industry had an all time record low sales in March because of this protest. It would be all over the internet and in other media headlines. Lots and lots of people would read it and get informed about SOPA, lots of people that may not be fully aware of the situation as of yet. And that's what it's all about. It's not some silly boycott out to hurt the industry, it's about raising awareness. Much like the blackout by Wikipedia and other sites, just two days ago.
