where is it determinded whether a conversation appears in NWN1 or NWN2 (Cutscene-) style?

The latter ones are looking odd without voice acting.

It's a little odd. Highlight the conversation name in the tab to the left (the one that alternates between areas, area contents, scripts and convos), and then open up the properties tab to the right (just like you would for a NPC's properties). There's a check box in there for NWN1-style box conversations.

If you want to make it where the player cannot press ESC to get out of the conversation, check the "multiplayer cutscene" button. This is good for plot-critical conversations that will only fire one time. Don't want players accidentally escaping out of them and breaking the mod.
