So some people will think you're creepy. Who cares? Gamers are creepy by default when they are an adult if television is correct.EternalAmbiguity wrote...

Cause using it requires you to talk to it.

No I play on PC.

i don't understand why they wont just let you map the powers to the chat pad.
i won't be using kinect as there is a short delay in the action after you issue the voice command.

it's funny how people are arguing about a short delay and saying it's a matter of life or death. it's not like you'll just be standing there saying "liara singularity" and waiting for her to reply while you get shot at. you'll be behind cover, moving or shooting back.
I will definitely try it out and o think it's going to fun yelling at my squad while I rain death to Cerberus and the reapers.

I have one so I will try it out, no harm done in doing so. I don't know why so many folks get so worked up about a feature that is completely optional.

No kinnect use for me, since I don't have Kinect. My gaming area has too much stuff in it that it just isn't practical to make room for jumping around like a loon for playing fruit ninja. And I'm not getting it just for voice commands.

No. I don't have an X-Box for one.
For another, the Kinect is a gimmick device that doesn't work as well in the real world as it does in carefully controlled research and development environments or massive empty presentation stages.
For a third, I live in a house with other people. I lived in an apartment with other apartments to the left, right, above and below. Noise is a bigger concern.
For a fourth, the Kinect and similar upcoming devices need a lot of room and need you to use expansive, distinctive, exaggerated movements. That usually translates in the real world into bumping into furniture, knocking things over, etc.
Finally, command and interpretation lag time means that I will be far better off with my hands on the keyboard and mouse, than I would ever be flailing around in the open air.

I've watched the video's several times. watching what is going on. The delay is not what most people are making it out to be in a lot of cases. Doors and weapons excluded most delays were actually delays for the animation. Things like Liara turning around to face the right way to actually cast singularity or Vega stopping whatever the heck he was doing to actually move to the place indicated. Outside of combat they usually responded immediately to the voice commands. As fast as they would to the button presses.
Weapons were the real slow culprit and really. Let's be fair and objective about this. Weapon changes were not necessarily quick in ME2 either. We could probably start wars over changing weapons out of cover in ME2 alone because of the effort it took and at harder levels was probably asking for death.
the Kinect voice commands are also set up that we don't have to use all the commands. The controller is still fully functional. Giving us options on how we want to do something at a given moment.
And as for shouting at your TV. I'd bet considering most of us are gamers. Most of us are more guilty of this than we'd like to admit anyway. Now we just get to put it to use once we can get over berating and fearing new gaming technology. Because you know. our biggest fear is that the gaming technology will actually make us move if we let it keep going the way it is... But that's a different issue altogether.
And I can tell you that the Kinect Mic in the sensor unless you feel the need to play in the equivilent of a rock concert for noise levels all the time is actually fairly sensitive. With my tv turned up decently loud watching netflix while being online with vent open playing WoW or other things. I've actually had people on vent. turned up just loud enough for me to hear them without getting blaring actually control my Kinect a few times and cause my movie or tv program to stop, rewind, and fast forward. Just because the right words popped up in conversation.
And for those complaining about space... Here's a game where space don't matter. the Kinect doesn't care if it can see us or not. all it needs to do is hear us. so sit in your lounge chair 3 feet from the tv. for this game it'll work better for you that way. As long as you don't need to speak constantly with your mouth full of cheetos your in good shape...

I don't have the Kinect but I would use the voice commands for powers. I would not use them for conversion though because it would be weird to say something but Shep say something else, unless he starts with the exact words you say and from the E3 demo he doesn't.

I'll definitely use this thing on PC once Kinect is put onto it... though I wouldn't be surprised if someone can hack drivers into Windows for Kinect to work. I haven't looked yet.
