Directly after the final battle, Shep will assess his remaining squad, seeing for himself who survived and who didn't. Then he'll try to avoid the machinations of politicians while getting said surviving squad healed and off doing what they want to do. He'll put up with whatever 'hail to the hero' bull**it the Council/Alliance have to put on for the masses, tell them all to **ck off, and ride off into the sunset alone or: with Liara/with Jack/with Garrus/with Thane's ashes(unless he manages to vanquish a fatal, non curable disease, lol)/with Tali/with Kaidan. If all goes well, Shep will have a little peace and quiet, maybe have a family, but eventually he'll come back to police/military work because after all that action, it's pretty much impossible to be sedate.

Either that or he'll join the Barnam and Bailey's Intergalactic Circus as the Lion Juggler and enter into a tawdry affair with the four-breasted bearded Yahg lady under the assumed named of Captain Prothy.

He's going to retire to his apartment on Intai'sei and head to the Citadel once a year for Shepard Day, where everyone who survived the Reaper invasion lines up to get punched in the gut by the guy who saved the galaxy.

If they surivived then Conrad, Al'Jilani, Udina, the original Council and the Shifty-Looking Space Cow will be eligible for 2 for flinching.

Since I'm sure the Council (if any of them survive...) will find a way to claim the Reaper invasion was actually a geth attack/rogue spectre/cerberus, Shepard will run off with Garrus, and Joker, and whoever else wants to come along for exploration, vigilante justice, crime fighting and other assorted shenanigans.

John - Have blue babies with Liara and continue working as an Alliance marine until retired.

Victor - Settle down with Tali and probably help her people rebuild their home world.

Rommie - Where ever the action takes her.

Hank - Depends on what happens with Miranda in ME3.

William - Hopefully a life with Tali somewhere. With her exiled, I imagine she'll remain by his side. Maybe help rebuild Earth.

It was Legion, but he got kicked out because he was obsessed with taking the band into a techno genre.
