Ok, so I have a question on how to make your party work together via the tactics lists. I've heard that on the PC its a very PNP (Pause-n-Play) based game, where you pause, issue your command to your party, unpause, pause again, and issue more commands, therefore relieving the player of the issues of the tactics list. But on the PS3 its a fairly more fast paced game. Like I ran through the entire Arch Demon boss fight only pausing (bringing up the radial menue) to use a poultice. But I like to stick to just one character at a time and the loading screens say 'Make your party work together with the tactics' but I never find what I want in the tactics screen. Like I was looking for a support based tactic for my archer, like if Alistair is below 50% health, Leliana covers him. But I couldn't find anything like that. So is the best support tactics just a healing spell or a buff? Because that would be pretty dissapointing, and I'm looking (on the playthrough I'm on) to just go with my blood mage as a main combatant, and i'm only really boosting Alistair/Sten's str enough to wear dragon bone plate, then the rest goes into health. And Wynne enough for a decent group heal, and the rest health (my strategy when my blood mage becomes disturbingly low on health, which I couldn't really find in the tactics list, is I'll swap to Wynne and cast a group heal, and swap back and cast Blood Sacrifice sufficiently regenerating my caster, like keeping them as packs of health to be used, rather then as actual fighters) but it would still be nice to have it so that Wynne and Sten come and back me up if I'm running low on health. Is there any possible way to do this rather then just swapping to them and leaving my blood mage at the mercy of the hopelessly tangled tactics list? Please let me know if there is :)

-No matter how many deaths that I die I will never regret
No matter how many lies that I live I will never forget.

How I set my tactics depends a lot on how many slots each character has at the time. Each time a character gets a new slot it is usually good to rethink tactics, but if what is there is working it doesn't make sense to mess it up too much.

For health-type tactics, it can be useful to set them so there is overlap. In other words, set each character to use a health potion at <25% health. Then create overlap by setting Wynne to Heal any ally with health <75% and to Group Heal if any ally has health <50%. Or pick whatever numbers seem best, but the point is to create a series of conditions where healing will occur.

The other question (if I understand it correctly) is to do with setting tactics so one character covers another. Taunt and Threaten can be used to draw attackers away from a mage or archer when they are attacked. It is also possible to set one character to attack enemies which are attacking another character. A third method is to use the F1, F2, F3, and F4 keys to select various characters so that they attack the same enemy -- focusing fire as it is sometimes called.

Generally speaking, I try to set my tactics so that the melee fighters cover for each other, and the mage and archer make life easy for the melee fighters. The mage and archer are set on Ranged, so they usually stay out of trouble, but I keep and eye on them. If the mage or archer appears to need help, I may pause the game and re-position everyone to deal with that problem.

Or course there are many ways to play the game. But maybe there is something here you may find useful....

Thanks, that was helpful. I never really thought about the 'Taunt' talent, and the overlap idea helps, even though as a Blood Mage healing isn't the most effective method, although healing others are still pretty dandy. and I play on the PS3 version, so I can either select the whole party or just one, none in between, but that was a good idea too. I'll play around a bit, and see if I cant set Wynne's tactics to have it somthing like ' Alistair <25% health) which he would be roughly half way through the fight just after casting Blood Sacrifice. then I geuss I'll place 'heal' to the other two party members, I just dont want a general time to heal, cause my blood mage has a large amount of health (as is needed for it) and when I buy the 'Life Giver' 25% health is still going to be a hell of a lot of health, + all the added health I'll be putting in from lvl 7-20 (already got Wintersbreath from Soldier's Peak and the 36 mage to use it)

Thanks, I really apreciate it. I've done all the bosses sevral times (including both optional bosses, like Caradin v Branka, and all the others) so If you need a tip for any of 'em, let me know :)
