I guess we'll never know who's right about the Chakram launcher: Joel Green, Bioware employee or WolfForce99, random anonymous poster with terrible spelling and grammer.

Chakram Launcher is classified as an assault rifle. Had it right the first time.

I hope you are right. Because if it is an assault rifle the Chakram Launcher will be faster then if it were a heavy weapon. But the fact remains that all Launchers have been heavy weapons. And that gives me dowts that say you are wrong and we wont know who is right an tell March 6.

Says the poster with bad spelling to the developer!  LOL!

Alright, back on topic.....  Weapons.

I've been thinking about it and I think it would be neat if they introduced a few weapons that use the old overheat system from ME1 along side the thermal clip using weapons.

I certainly DON'T want to switch back to the overheat system,  I thought thermal clips were a major improvement.

But; adding in a few weapons that use the old system would add some variety and help silence a few naysayers. Giving you some weapon options which lack the DPS potency of their thermal clip using counterparts; but which never run out of ammo.

I think an alternate version of the Predator, Avenger, and Katana (I've got no problem with them using the same model) which overheat would be a nice addition.  The rate of overheat could be balanced by the devs for each weapon so that the advantage of infinite ammo is offset by the weapons diminished volume of fire since you'll have to wait for the gun to cool instead of just throwing in a new clip.

PS:  I don't think the overheat system would be appropriate for Sniper Rifles.   I suppose you could balance the rate of fire for the Sniper Rifle to offset the unlimited ammo; but I still see that leading to some dull camping tactics.

My main interest is how powerful hand cannons are going to be. I'm a nut when it comes to sidearms. I plan to go through the whole game with only the N7 Eagle as a Vanguard. I went through the whole game of Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 on Veteran using only a Desert Eagle. My most used gun in BF3 is the M1911.

Yeah that was part of my thinking as well.

In particular, players who focus heavily on power use like Adepts or Engineers who want to maximize power cooldown by rolling with just a pistol could really benefit from having a weapon that won't run out of ammo.  Alternatively a soldier who relies almost entirely on their weapons might want to consider a sidearm that won't run out of ammo in case they get into a situation where they run out of clips.

I'm most curious about the potential for a "One gun" for a Vanguard that covers both the CQC and the standard mid-range. Something like a slug-throwing shotgun or a high close quarters damage assault rifle.  The Eviscerator was a start but it just wasn't quite there.  The GPS was just a horribly unfun gun to use for me and I hated the split second delay for its firing timing due to the potential for overcharged shots.

On the other hand, I'm also curious if a standard assault rifle only Vanguard would be effective if you just forgo shotguns all together and rely on the biotic PUNCH!!! for close quarters.

I was going to try something like this with my Vanguard.  Except I would also be carrying a pistol.

I use the Mattock with my Vanguard. It's so accurate that when you charge into somebody it's impossible to miss. I think a great all around AR for Vanguards in ME3 will be the N7 Valkyrie. High Damage output, full auto, and sounds like a monster. Gotta have the intimidation factor as well.

I will not be making any final decisions on which assault rifle I will use until I can see what they look like. Since, I have found all the weapons have about equal effectiveness unless it is a direct upgrade (i.e. Widow over the Mantis sniper rifles). I do want to see what the Cobra looks like though.

Ok seeing that this was never made fully available to everyone, still waiting on the N7 arsenal bundle for Xbox and PC bioware, especially those who got into mass effect later on, has it been said anywhere if the blackstorm and collector assault rifle items can be acquired in mass effect 3 without having the dlc for them in mass effect 2?

So yeah im going to ask this again...anyone got any info on this?

I'm curious, can you carry NO guns in order to keep weight at nothing and thus power recharge at max?

That and the apartment, while having a nice view, was also pointless if you were playing NG+ like I was.

So if Pinnacle Station shows up in ME3, I won't see it. Perhaps if I ever decide to go through the entire trilogy in order again, I'll play it so I can get it to appear in the finale.

I dunno though. Again, seems pointless.

Let's see let's take the worst part of ME1 and then make a mission that is nothing but that. Yeah, not really a good plan.

Does stacking apply to these mods? Ex- 2 heat sinks on an SMG doubles the % of retaining ammo?

I also wonder how necessary shotguns will be. Fitness looks like it might be a power to max as quick as possible. Banshees are supposed to be unbeatable in close, though...

The gun selection is definitely looking good. My biggest problem with ME2 was that there really wasn't much of a variety of guns. Granted each weapon was unique but it just didn't pay to have your squadmates using different guns than you. With all the upgrades it seems like we'll really be able to customize the combat roles of our squadmates even more than before. On a second note, where did you find this list and the descriptions?

One thing I don't understand is how mods that let you carry extra sniper/shotgun ammo work, because heatsinks come from a common pool now. does it increase your total for all guns? Does it reduce the amount of ammo used for each shot, relative to the pool, i.e. shotgun would use 4 units instead of 5?

@Pdesign, I'm pretty sure those are the same thing. just the name is different, and those 2 screenshots are probably far enough apart in time that the gun name got changed

Or it's just because the numbers are viewed from a weird angle in the newer screenshot.
