this is just awesome! why do you guys think they added so much more weapons per weapon type? i think its cuz of the new multiplayer feature. they want everyone to personalize their online character as much as possible. it also adds on to the "better rpg feel" since there will be builds for specific weapons just like in ME2.

I think it's because a lot of people, myself included, were dissapointed with ME2's limited arsenal. Especially after ME1's jam packed weapon selection (see: cumbersome), and because if you played as an adept, engineer or sentinel your selection was even crappier. This was somewhat aleviated by dlc weapons, but those came really too late for some people. They'd either stopped playing or traded their copy of ME2 (heathens) by the time the firepower pack was released.
I understand bioware was trying to tone down on the ridiculous inventory of ME1, but they went from one extreme to the other. I'm optimistic that they've hit the sweet spot this time.
