That is true.. I haven't had problems with my slim either. Like I said I'm 70% Xbox 30% PC in terms of gaming but I can still admit PC gaming is better... that doesn't mean consoles are trash.. I play my X360 everyday!

Still kicking an early model elite. Sound like a helicopter going off. I suppose I'll get a slim if it ever pops the red rings.

I don't think you'll have anything to worry about - GTX 460 smacks down 9800GT.

Seems like it must just not recognize the card. The Tom's Hardware charts put the 460 at 2 or three times the speed of the 9800GT. No worries there.

Yeah, I can vouch. My friend has a 460. It's awesome. You're fine.

Dead set serious - 30FPS Irks me. I feel like I'm watching a flip strip cartoon I used to draw on the corners of my maths books in school. If it doesn't bother you, great! But it really irks me.

The reason why 30FPS can irk you is because most video-games these days don't have motion-blur.

A telivision or monitor shows stil images after still images, each image being crystal sharp if you play in full-HD. The human eye works different however. When you turn your head 180 degrees in a quick motion, you don't see a bunch of sharp images appearing after each other, you'll see a short blur.

If a video-game has motion-blur, even 15FPS can still look smooth to some people. But without motion-blur, some people might perceive 30FPS as not-smooth.

Looks pretty nice for a cheaper card. I always wonder what kind of crazy value I could get if I tried to spec out a system without blowing the bank. Used to do it that way every time. Always grabbed the cheaper AMD chip and the ATI card to go with.

2. That's a flat out lie. You clearly haven't played on a next to perfect gaming computer because almost every single game now days is better.. FYI console games hardware is 6 years old!! How can that compete with a brand new computer parts in terms of performance.

Now hold on just a sec. I love my gaming rig and all, but you aren't telling the whole story.

First off, most companies nowadays get more profits off of the console versions. Therefore, they make a game primarily for consoles, and secondarily for PCs. For this reason, they upscale the console version (minor things like anti-aliasing, maybe better textures, that sort of stuff) rather than really taking advantage of the PC's superior hardware. Even though gaming rigs can boast some amazing graphics, very few games, if any, take advantage of it. And cross-platform releases really never do.

In addition to that, even though consoles are on 6-7 year old hardware, they also benefit from allowing developers to be closer to the hardware in question. Yes, an Xbox only has 512mb of memory, but a game doesn't need nearly as much memory to run the same things a PC needs 3-4GB to run. Consoles benefit from working on the same hardware at all times, giving developers the exact peramiters around which to make their game, and it benefits customers because they don't have to worry about driver compatability, hardware compatability or non-gaming related issues, such as a virus or OS issue.

Anyway, yes gaming rigs are better, but they come with their fair share of problems as well due to the fact that more people own consoles than they do gaming rigs. ME3 could look far better on a PC, but if ME2 is any judge, it won't really look all that different. I wish more companies gave me stuff that would look far and away better on my rig, but that's rarely the case. The differences are fairly minor most times.

Plus, I don't think ME3 is even going to take advantage of DX11. If so, that's a major issue if you're looking for a superior graphical experience to consoles.

All valid points. But who cares? So my money didn't buy me a ton of extra performance. It bought me some, and I get to play me games the way I want to. Why is this important at all? And what does any on this have to do with the topic of this thead?

...and as such - its one of the reasons why I always enable motion blur in games, and also pick my TV's based on how much filler they can put in between frames.

I love me my rock solid images.

This is true.. okayy :P but that is why I tend to get ENB graphic enhance mods for my PC games... the GTA IV ones look unbelievable.

Yeah - you can pick the 400 series up pretty cheap - and then drop in an old 9800 for physx and stuff around with that - it adds some pretty awesome stuff to games like Mirrors Edge and Mafia 2.

Haha! Love it! looks like what I do after a game first comes out! I don't move for a few days :P

With the keyboard and mouse - legs up, keyboard on thighs, mouse on a text book by my side - eliminates the need to do any large movements! Good times!

1. Don't think so.

2. Graphics are nearly the same between console and PC for most games. Only a very few games actually look significantly better on PC. Mass Effect 3 isn't one of them.

3. PS3 also has Blue-Ray (I have all 3 consoles so) and  Mass Effect doesn't even ship on Blue-Ray, unless you get the PS3 version. The PC and Xbox360 version are both on DVD.

Besides, even though you COULD indeed use your PC in your living-room or luxury gaming-room outfitted with a nice sofa, I know most of you don't because most of you don't use their PC solely for gaming. Or are you saying you actually do your business and mailing from your sofa as well? I can hardly believe that's comfortable.

1. What?

2. This is such a dumb argument. The hardware in the 360 is many years old at this point. The games are not true HD, and they look terrible compared to a top of the line PC. But again, why is this important? If I get 1% better graphics, and it cost my $1200, isn't that my choice?

3. Don't care?

4. I have 5 computers in my apartment. They are really not that expensive nowadays.

5. Why is it some important to you to feel like you are better somehow? How others choose to spend their time and money is their business. Not once would I ever tell you to game any different then you do. It's your life. Let us have ours?

1. It's true. On consoles you rarely have unanticipated bugs, freezes, crashes or hardware issues (unless you're sporting an old white Xbox36).

2. I never said you can't make the (dumb) choice to spend 1200 bucks for a monster PC even though the games on PC still look the same as on consoles (maybe 1% better as you said, but not much more).
And who cares about "true HD", a human eye can't even see the difference without a side-by-side comparison. The only way to see the difference between "true HD" and the upscaled HD that the consoles produce is in an image that shows a side-by-side comparison. You won't see the difference with the naked eye.

3. Fair enough. I don't care either.

4. Holy cow, 5 computers? All modern or are some of them old?
I have one iMac, one Macbook Pro, an Xbox360, a PS3 and a Wii.

5. I don't feel I'm better, I just wanted these PC elitists that are always acting as if they're so superior, to see that gaming on consoles can have nice benefits too. You're not better because you're a PC gamer and PC-gaming is certainly not better in every single aspect, as I tried to point out in my original comment.

But I agree, to each their own. Whatever floats your boat, right? :wizard:

This is the only important point. All of your arguments make YOU sound like the one who is acting superior. In this post, you literally called me and everyone like me dumb for making a different choice then you did. Can you not see how that's exactly the same argument an offensive PC elitest would use? That their choice was dumb. It's just as silly when you do it.
