Seconded hispanic opinion, Lola is not grandma. Lola is what you would call a sexy young woman's name.

Grandma is Abuela. Abeulita if she a tiny grandma.

I know, I had a grandma who spoke spanish as a first language.

I agree. Bita is much better. Short for abuelita, grandma in English.

I called my great-grandmother on my mom's side Ita.  Close.

Sweet.

The way I've been taught, the use of a diminutive in Spanish, like abuelita and the variations, express affection. And, I'm likely gonna go spend time with my grandma tomorrow actually. ^_^

You know, I gotta admit, FPJ is kinda cute. And really, his voice is pretty damn close to how I imagined Vega. As for Vega's appearance, he has a... distinctive face. Toes the line between ugly and cute. And that's a good thing. He's a normal guy all around. Well, apart from how incredibly built he is, but I'm not about to criticize people over their body types, especially after the multiple pounds I packed on over the holidays, and an impressive set of muscles is hardly a turnoff.

But the nicknames are cute. Seriously. Big, derpy-looking jarhead with a pleasant voice and playful sense of humor, who challenges his commanding officer and personal hero to friendly boxing matches and gives everybody cute nicknames? The lovable meat tank that's there to drop a WHAT THE HELL MAN when you need one?

He's just so... likable. I feel like he's the friendly jock I wish I knew in high school. The kind of guy who'd tell the other jocks to back off and quit bullying the chubby nerd who cries too easily.

And, you know, maybe walk her home and take her to prom, and...

... You didn't read any of that.

Indeed, I was called little *insert real name here* when I was a kid because of that.  Its how it translates.  My Dad's mom was much smaller, should have called her Ita, lol.  But she got the full Abuelita.

The only Lola I know is a 70 year old woman that I occasionally run errands for. Is Vega insinuating that Shepard is 70 years old?

Actually, I really like Vega. I think he will be the first leading male (that isn't a dinosaur monster) that will appeal to the majority of the fanbase.

I just substitue it with Italian, they're basically the same thing and my Italian is allot better than my Spanish. Which, isn't really saying much, my Irish is better than my Spanish.

Considering he's human Garrus with a latino passion or whatever, I'd guess you're right.

Obligalo a usar un sombrero mexicano en su cabeza, ponle ropa de mariachi, y listo.

*Spanish is my first language lololol*

Anyway, I'm all for retarded nicknames. 'Esteban' is 'Steve' in spanish, by the way.

And all that comes to mind is that one song about the cross dresser...

Lol

The Kinks' song was the first thing that pooped into my head too.

Writer1: We'll call broShep Loco!  Cool!
Writer2: What dod we call femshep?
Writer1: I dunno, but it has to match "Loco" for the mouth animations.
Writer2: How about Lola?
Writer1: Doesn't that come w/ the baggage of "Lolita?"
Writer2: I thought it meant "young woman?"
Writer3: Actually, it's a diminutive of the name, Dolores, taken from the Spanish title of the Virgin Mary María de los Dolores, meaning "Mary of Sorrows".
Writer1: Wasn't that a song about a transvestite?
Writer2: She's got the same skeleton as broShep.
Writer1: There ya go!  Lola it is!

Hmm... random thought. I'd love some "El Mariachi", "Desperado" inspired casual outfits.

That jingle when you walk.

Vega needs an ascot.

And a pathological desire to always want to split up the group.
