It worked better in ME2 in that they covered a wider personality spectrum this will be harder to pull off with 6ish squadmates.

Nothing against it in particular, she morphed from one cliche to another. Cute/innocent to generic female bad ass. And the looks represent that.

The issue is that she was always a badass, but they gave her a contradictory personality that absolutely never fit her power or standing. They made her out to be some socially retarded cave dweller that just turned 16. Even if she chose to distance herself from society, she wouldn't have turned out like the way she was portrayed in the first game.

Haha! I wonder which Sith Lord possessed her? Or maybe she just got tainted in the dark side.Random citizen wrote...

I knew my paragon Shep made a mistake sending her to investigate the ruins on Korriban.

Liara was always a capable combatant. She just seems to have gotten more proficient.TMA LIVE wrote...

I still find that a bit out of character.

Bad Ass is more personality than power set. So no she was never a bad ass before, she just was powerful. And your take of her in ME1 is a lot different than mine. She was a bit nerdy and unsure in social situations but I've met tons of people more socially unaware than that.

Again, it's more of her personality then being kick ass in combat.
I don't see her doing the pidgin shooting. Liara would have just shot them, not try to gun them one handed, with her eye closed.

The execution killing I may just need more context for, but I don't imagine Liara double shooting a Cerberus guy in the head with a pissed off expression, unless said person "really" pissed her off.
Even though cerberus brought shepard back to life , I'm sure she is still plenty mad at them.

I bet this is a scene from the 3-way catfight between Ashley, Tali, and Liara. Good stuff.
Anyways Liara's "new look" is fine. (Basically same as Shadowbroker from what I can tell.) She hasn't changed much more then Garrus all things considered. And frankly lip/eye color is a pretty trivial complaint. Purely cosmetic stuff so I'm at a loss for why it bears any significance at all. I cannot think of any real reason why this could be a detriment to someone's enjoyment. Other then crazy (and admittedly creepy) obsession. Weapons, gear, and powers is one thing. But I see no real issue here.
Well okay... Liara is still lacking a proper helmet. Heck it doesn't even need to be a helmet. Just a proper "breathing mask" like this:

I don't really think it's out of character all that much. Her proficiency in combat is part of her character. All it looks like is that she's lining up a shot.TMA LIVE wrote...

Nah, it's definitely just rule of cool. Shooting one-handed is bad form, even more so one-handed and one-eyed.
Well that's the other half of it , we already know from ME2 how easily Liara can take care of someone(from the false leads on the shadow broker) , and managed not to leave any traces. That pretty much tells you how deadly Liara can be , let alone someone trying to chase her down and being on the receiving end of a shot to the head.

According to modern "combat techniques", aiming with one eye is a) stressful to eyes (both),

They could easily do another round of fanservice (if that's the name) and please both groups of gamers.

Hasn't that character been overused in Bioware games though? That Twilek from KotoR, Liara, That elf girl from DA2. it's like the second biggest archetype next to "gruff sociopathic mercenary."
