I got the feeling that #2 does not necessarily describes the council, but the general populace of the Citadel. "Sorry about you guys, but glad it didn't hit us!" is a fairly realistic and common feeling when it comes to catastrophes.
Later in the game same people will change their opinion, because it becomes more and more clear that the Reapers will hit them eventually (or have actually done so at some point).

It still doesn't make any sense.  If Alien Space Bats started eating Australia, people in New York wouldn't say "hey, it's not our problem".

They might conclude that Australia is a lost cause and it's better not to feed their troups uselessly to the Space Bats when they might be coming here next, but they wouldn't be acting like it's not a big deal.

Of course, there's quite a few opportunities for things to have got lost in translation here, so I'll wait for more info before panicking.

(15) Casey Hudson is quoted as saying that it is "a good idea to stick to your principles" with regard to your style of action, i.e. Paragon/Renegade. And I hoped we wouldn't be railroaded onto one path this time.... Though the context suggests that this might be NPC-specific, i.e. you should stick to your principles with regard to decisions affecting one character or species. I would like some clarification on this.

It says he said it's a good idea, that doesn't mean it's mandatory.  if you feel like that "forces" you not to stay somewhere in the middle, it's not their fault.

(4) If you enter Reaper-controlled territory, there's a chance the Reapers will try to hunt you down and you must do something to avoid them. That's referred to as a minigame.

what i'm curious about is what'll happen if you fail at that minigame. will you die? i'd certainly hope it'll be possible to die because of a minigame :D

It probably is, in KOTOR if you didn't shoot down the fighters in that mini-game you died.

That's actually very realistic thing to happen.

I love that even hundreds of years in the future, people still have this mindset.

It's not what happened after 9/11.  And that was rather less than a whole world - the homeworld of a superpower - being turned into goo by the genocidal space robots who attacked you only 3 years ago.

A more literal translation: Casey Hudson was quoted saying that "at the start, the inhabitants of the Citadel will be naive and believe the war doesn't concern them." It sounds as if he wasn't referring to the Council but the population. Which I find realistic. It's the type of wishful thinking I'd expect from some people facing the possibility of a war.

Difference is that USA was waiting for any opportunity for war.

Citadel Council?
They are like UN.

Just turning blind eye on big problems.

Just like League of Nations last century.
Hirohito, Mussolini and Hitler had quite the fun.

"Ah, yes. " Reapers ". Not our problem. "
Something like that, huh? Sad, but true.

I don't know smaller scale and all but plenty of people watched Japan invade China and said, not our problem. France and Brtiain watched the Rhineland, austria, sudentenland and Czechsolvakia go down the tubes with a not my problem view of things. The USA watched Japan and Hitler for quite some time, and likely would have longer, with a not my problem view of things.

It isn't impossible and given some of the anti-human sentiment I'd suspect there'd be some, "they got what they deserved" feeling going on there.

Whilst there is a clear phenomenon of people not caring about the problems of other nations, if a superpower (say Russia) was destroyed by an unknown enemy, and was devastating the country..

I am not suggesting other nations would intervene straight away, but they would certainly be extremely concerned and curious as to what was happening

It's really not realistic, at all.

I mean, this is a place that is still years away from finishing rebuilding after Sovereign's attack.  I can't remember if we get a detailed account of the civilian casualties, but they must have been in the thousands, more like 10s or 100s of thousands.  The natural response isn't "meh, not our problem" it's "Oh crap, they're going to going to come here again" followed by total panic.

The Citadel has already had it's Pearl Harbour moment at the Battle of the Citadel.  They had their homes destroyed, probably friends or family killed and they had the Council die or be on the brink of death.  By the same people who have now just wiped out the fleet which saved them in that battle, and are now laying waste to the homeworld of one of the 4 great powers of the galaxy.

(10) If old team members are dead, different things may happen depending
on the character. Sometimes a story arc will be completely lost,
sometimes there will be a replacement character, sometimes the story
will develop in a totally different way.

This worries me,a lot.Becuase, well,Tali,Grunt,Jack and Jacob died on my save.
