Not you.
You don't like JoJo.
Part of a healthy mind is JoJo once a month.
This ... why ... but ...
Fine, I'll ... let me collect myself for a minute, allright? I ... I am ...
Okay look, I can't just say this in front of everyone. I am ... I want to ... ARRRGH, too ashamed to say it out loud!

You don't get to use Dio Brando.
Only Lord Dio's chosen people can use pictures, gifs, and videos of Lord Dio.
And you are not one of his chosen.
Also yay the thread got past a 1000 pages!
Without me.
Goddamn it Sim.

Man, getting back to Chewin's question before... I don't really know what I could say that isn't already in the anime. Or I just don't simply understand what he wants from the answer xD man I'm dense. That's why it confuses me. If the anime is anything like the manga you should have the full picture, so I don't know what to add xD
F*ck I'm stupid.
Geth knows your pain, Chewin ><
To me, Akame ga Kill/Kiru has never been more than a good battle manga. It has its heroes, its villains and of course, its battles. Though I guess it does a pretty good job at adding layers to the fundamentals of shounen which is why I guess its popular (at least over here.)
The Jaegars are a good example of this. A rival faction for the protagonists who are simply another group of good people doing what they think is right. On some level, the dynamic between Night Raid and the Jaegars is very similar to that of Yang Wenli and Reinhard. That's really what really sells it for me.
Themes such as oppression aren't really explored, it's all very simple stuff with that extra spice (like the touch of politics here and there.) I guess the death factor is a lot higher than other shounen, which creates a lot of suspense in its panels, especially when things go a lot quicker and you really can't guess what's going to happen next.
Esdes/Esdeath is a likeable villain.
I guess.
I mean, yeah, on a superficial level she's fracking awesome, kawaii, sexy and just plain adorable. But keep in mind that she is a damned sadist and torture is her pass time
but it's cool when morality comes into play, no matter how simple it is. Again, it really does those extra layers to shine a little brighter than other battle manga.
So yeah... unless I'm missing something, that's about it. Aside from the Jaegers, Akame ga Kill is just a really good battle manga with a decent plot to boot.
*snip*
No need to beat yourself, I simply wanted to know your impressions of the manga as a whole and how it holds up. I wasn't aware that Akame is based on a manga, so I was simply curios to see if it was worth the read and whether there are any significant aspects to point out in how it might differ from the show.
E.g. Shingeki no Kyojin is quite a prime example. The underlying plot point of the show was about humanities struggle with the titans, and jumping in to the manga immediately afterwards had it still following that same formula--but its narrative structure changed later on for one focusing on internal conflicts rather than external ones, giving it quite different factors and causes to take up and delve into.
So again, simply curios if Akame followed suit in any similar regard. I like what the show has established thus far and I think there is potential for it to explore more, since while the conflict between the two factions is entertaining it might grow quite stale, especially if it keeps on going and simply having individuals that die replaced and having this continuing without ever really adding up to anything.
So I'm glad that Akame apparently follows suit in doing what it does best, but also a bit dishearten by hearing that it doesn't change from its established formula.
EDIT: Oh, and we hit passed the 1000 page mark. Yay!

Psycho-Pass just keep getting better and better, it's really a show that I could probably re-watch over and over again if for no other reason than for more Ko
and all the other great characters dealing with situations and scenarios that are all quite remarkable!
Now to top the evening off with some Cowboy Bebop! Need to calm the fury of the dark lord Geth-sama!

So I started watching Mushishi.
This be some weird stuff.
I'm late but ...
Good choice. Very good choice. The first 3 episodes are alright, but the first really good one is the 4th IMO.
Been watching the second half of the second season. It hasn't been quite as good as the first season overall, but it's still great. These kind of show never seem to generate much discussion though. Probably too different from the typical anime fare. Or maybe I just don't hang out in the right places.
Not that I care much about anime discussions anyway. I mostly keep to myself and just lurk around to see if anyone mentions something that would suit my tastes.

1/3 through Bebop and it's something alright! A slightly slow start but otherwise it's been very enjoyable to watch and the art style really do bring back memories from shows I used to watch such a long time ago!
That said, time to for now close shop, trust Geth-sama and the rest to totally find something to talk about.. penis arms or what not

I feel like a kid again every time I listen to Bebop's ending theme. Makes me feel guilty for not being as interested in Toonami like I used to be.

Ahh if that's the case... well yeah, it doesn't really shift tones or bring anything new to plate. But the plot progresses and hasn't dropped in quality.
So that's good ![]()
ETA:
Actually, more factions within the Empire have began to appear. Though I'd hardly call it complex, it's added more depth than what was originally a 1v1 fight.

So Shippuden...
Four episodes in. It's nice to see all them boobs kids grown up and all.
Other than those minor nitpicks it was a pretty decent start. Like I said, I'm not going to be taking Naruto that seriously for me to become reeaaaaly invested.

Oh, the start of Shippuuden is good enough and throughout the whole Akatsuki arc the fights are pretty awesome. Once that arc is done however (and you'll know it when you see it), it goes downhill, very steep and very fast.

The game last about two years!
It could have easily done the entire series on SAO alone. Asuna was a badass in the first half. She'd kick you right in your daddy bags before sending you to a swift visit to the light at the end of the tunnel.
In the second half... well... Asuna was beyond nerfed. She was...
A.
Sex
Slave
Watch it.
I cheated and watched things like the Guardians fight and it was pretty cool, it's the fact that I already felt it was probably just fine with some cool parts that I don't have much interest in watching the second part, not the fact that I'm convinced it's pure rubbish. The problem is there is are a lot of anime with some cool parts in it, but I don't know maybe one day....
Anyway I've seen some Gundam, Seed >>>>>>>>> Destiny and that's all I really have to say. I tried 00 and it failed whereas Wing seemed old to the point of not wanting to try it. The thing is it's all very formulaic so you don't get much out of it after awhile, I regularly forget I ever watched them in the first place.
