So UBW
Both Shirou and Rin's representation for this particular episode was the focal point and I am glad it was executed properly. Not only did they both respectively have some rather cool action scenes but also some small--but vital--characterization on their part, which further portrayed their differences as individuals. This was particularly prominent in the last minutes of the episode where they reflected upon their fathers and how different of an upbringing they've had (as the show pointed out--Rin being raised as a magician in mind while Shirou simply as a human, with Kiritsugu being completely against the notion of magic).
I have to give credit to the show from managing to properly adapt Shirou as a functioning character, without turning him into being completely passive and simpleminded. His actions within the school dormitory is understandable and relatable (though it is necessary that the show from hereon makes him stay more on the defensive), him chasing after Rider was so that he could get a glimpse of the Master, and him not calling Saber immediately b/c of only having two Seals left--in addition to not initially finding Rider that much of a threat (though that was still quite a gamble). Pleased to see that he was still defensive with Rin after the fight and during the scene when discussing magic abilities and how he has only one ability--much to Rin's annoyance for stating it--was explained by him having a very different viewpoint on magic due to Kiritsugu teachings.
While understandable, Shirou's actions were still rather irrational during the whole event, but the show giving able points to explain why is noteworthy. But more importantly (as I stated above) it is now vital that Shirou turns from reactive to proactive and properly knows what the name of the game is. Otherwise he will follow into a similar route as he did in Fate, which hopefully won't be the case. I would like for him to properly start acting during the War instead of reacting to whatever comes across his path, which I hope the show will do.
And as always, the animation was stunning and had tons of variety. Still would like some proper explanation though in the magical workings of the world.
