As best I can figure, it has something to do with them 'charging up' some sort of attack while squatting and screaming like they're trying to crap out a load of cinder blocks.

Uuh, haven't seen Armitage. That girl looks like that one sin in Fullmetal Alchemist.
As to making fun of Dragon Ball, well, that's what it's (originally) for. I love the original Dragon Ball (not Z), yet for some of the same reasons I adore this comic (btw, thanks for the linking in that one thread, Soronnar).

You're talking to an anime connoisseur.

Nope, Super Saiyan-jin is just 50 million times a person's own ki level.

As for what for you talking about, that's the dub/Toei's crap.

And eroeru is right, you are talking to a guy who knows far too much stuff about manga/anime.=]

I recently Code Geass, and I found it very good. A very interesting story, and good character development + awesome mechs.

IKR?! I love the anti hero/chess master characters. It kind of reminds me of death note. Light and Lelooch seem kind of similar.

@Super Geth - Well, technically the "jin" at the end only denotes a "person", but in actuality it means heritage, nationality or simply put "where one's from". America-jin would be an "American person", or simply put "American".

So in English it's well enough to translate it into "Saiyan".

Sorry if you knew this already, just wanted to stop there.

@TwylaFox - otherwise, really great picks!

Will definitely give Armitage a looksee.

True, it can just translate it into "Saiyan". Thank you for Saiyan that, I have a feeling most people here know very little about the Japanese language or the art of translation.

Busou Renkin has an awesome theme-song. It's fun.

But it doesn't have much substance now does it? Does it get boring soon? (don't know myself, have only watched 3 or so episodes - and I didn't see anything much interesting ready to go down, may be wrong - no spoilers please)

It's an okay series. Nothing truely original or mind blowing. It does have a decent romance storie. It's more of a character driven story, to me. My suggestion? Watch until about episode 7 or 8. That's usually what I'll do if I'm unsure about a series.

Pros:
Some good (supporting) characters
Good villians
*some* interesting powers
Decent love story
Good humor

Cons:
Generic story, especially at the beginning
Generic lead character
The lead character has the "Ichigo effect". Gets more powerful as he loses.
Some random leaps in logic

So, there you have it. It's pretty much your run of the mill shonen (I think that's the term) anime.

Busou Renkin is a shonen series, the manga even ran in WSJ.

And yeah it's very run of the mil, not bad but nothing great. So it's no One Piece or Hunter x Hunter but at least it's not Naruto or Bleach.=]

^ Thanks for the overview. The possibility of a romance and good villains intrigues me. Will definitely give it a try.

But does the romance go farther and will it be better depicted than for example Fate/Stay Night's moe romance thingy?

EDIT: first I became aware of the series when I watched Nico Nico Douga song meshups. This one in particular. I instantly thought the series would be amazing.

I'm not sure because I haven't seen those series. :]

And come on, Bleach isn't that bad. It has really good character designs and powers. The SS arc is one of the best I've ever seen. I'm not sure about the rest because I became really angry when I realized I watched the Bount Arc for nothing. I barely paid attention to the Arrancar arc because the fights went the way of DBZ, lasting for 5 episodes too many. It's still a good and memorable series though, and I'll stand by that.

It's memorable. Cool designs. And I can't say One Piece or Naruto are easier/better to watch - the pacing is what's worst in series as this. Frankly, it's more infuriating than fun to watch them.

It's memorable in the sense that it's the worst manga ever to be in WSJ.

I mean yeah it's somewhat good up to the end of the SS arc, but after that? The main characters get pushed to the sidelines in favor of the SS characters. who all suck. Ichigo still has no real personalty. And you know what? Stuff like that can be fixed, what can't be fixed was the retcons and the oh so many, many, MANY plotholes. I still can't get over how Shuu-chan, as a character was a living plothole. I mean everything is pointless in this series! There is a reason people think Kubo is a troll.<_<

Mr deer Mad Hanar, you are lucky you only watch the anime... Because the manga with it's "cool designs" has a big problem, Kubo is a very lazy artist to the point where there is almost no backgrounds and very little speech bubbles in the chapters. No it's not a style choice.

As for the "cool designs"? I don't even care for them that much, too many smug a-holes.

Bleach as a series had a good start, thanks to Togashi giving the ok for it to be Jump(I think he regret this) and Kubo being lucky. But the series has lost a lot of popularity for a reason, and that reason is people are sick of Kubo's BS. That is why the show got the can, and soon the manga will follow it. I remember seeing a video of one of the top WSJ editors, in the video he had a lot of nice things to say about One Piece and Naruto... When it came time for him to say something good about Bleach, he actually struggled for a bit to come up with anything, he eventually said it had "cool designs". You really got from him that he dislikes the manga and he should, it's lazy sh!t work.

Just read all of this. Everyone here should know the horrors Bleach puts people through.

I recently stopped watching bleach because i completely lost interest. I see why it got cancelled now. I've lost plenty of interest in it. Shame considering i did enjoy the beginning and the soul society arc.

On the bright side, Ergo Proxy is still great.

Seeing that again made me want to link this.

The subs are horrible but damn these fans really do sound a lot like the actual voice actors.

@Soronnar Do you care to bring up why? I promise this is not much of a trap.

What? You mean a horribly androgynous Mary Sue child with super-powers fighting a grown man isn't enough of a reason to deslike it?
