Code Geass is a great show. I enjoyed it very highly and it didn't feel like a chore to watch. In fact I was interested very highly and was into it.

Hell, I have a hand drawn picture of Lelouch on my binder. I drew it of course.

It is one of the better anime shows out there.

It's just LOTGH spoils you that much.

Code Geass also broke new ground by having the lesbian character f**k a table.

I would say it's the best Gundam show but well Cross Ange happened.

Never mind me...just drinking coffee and doing some orbital bombardment of this thread.

Yang Wenli hates coffee.

DAMMIT LOTION!

There was so many things she COULD have done.

I get it.

She's hot, okay.

BUT NOT THE FRACKING TABLE!

People have to drink their tea there.

Good question.

Did she clean the table after she was done?

They should make another omake for us to find out.

It is largely subjective whether one finds something adorable or not in a medium. I myself found the Tachikomas to be rather annoying and if it weren't for their continious discussions on the concept of individuality I wouldn't have liked them that much.

Speaking of LOGH, I am still having a hard time deciding whether I like Reinhard or Yang Wenli more. I admire Wenli as a character but Reinhard more as a political figure. Truly, I keep jumping back and forth with these two. But this is one reason why the show is so great. Rarely do I find myself rooting for both parties almost on an equal basis. I love it!

See I knew there were a good reason why I want to wage war against you. Not adoring the Tachikomas is heresy and needs to be purged!

In all seriousness, yeah it's very subjective and that's totally cool!

Yay! A work I'm familiar with!

I get your admiration, because I share it too. I love the guy for all he did. But I think Yang put it best. A despotic government is only as good as its head. It happens all the time, i,e, Accursed Kings. I know you're not familiar with it (but you might be with the history) but it's the same case.

Philip the Fair creates a powerful France with vassals ranging from dukes to even kings. He establishes the middle-class and gives them seats in his council. All his reforms go to benefit France.

Then he dies.

And so begins the sh*tstorm that led to the 100 year war.

Hell, even Yang admired and agreed with the actions taken by Reinhard. He saw him as an excellent ruler (which he was) but ultimately could not agree on his side because of his position as "Leviathan" and the consequences that come with a despotic government.

However, I'd say that there was no way Reinhard could reform the Empire as quickly as he did if it were not for that very system. And there was no way that a reform of government to the point where it shifted from despotics to democracy was ever going to work. Social policy is one thing, but adopting a system which has been the eternal face of your greatest enemy is political suicide. Even if Reinhard was in favour of democratic solutions, he could have never done so without risking the integrity of his campaign.

Damn LOTGH is an awesome show.

Very true. Not only do I value a politician by their merits to gain power but also their ability to control it, and depending on circumstances, put forward a workable structure / order that works without the need of said individual being the head of it. This is something that I am currently following with intense on Reinhard's part.

Thank you for the summary on Code Geass and on my points I put forward. Can always rely on you, Sim. Will put Gode Geass into my watch list and probably get to it after LOGH.

This time she should hump Nunelley too.

Might as well have porn in it.

Indeed. And it was very refreshing when Reinhard didn't go down the err... "typical" route after you-know-what. I was dreading a "the world has wronged me now I'll wrong the world" after being established a brilliant protagonist/antagonist for the series.

Aww shucks

Eh, as long as it has a good protagonist (and characters) and a decent level of political machinations with a developing story, I can be content. Table f*cking included.

Just watch Code MENT after you are done.

It helps.

@Liam Don't worry you are not as dumb as Sim.

That is all that matters.

Impressive feats for sure, but the importance lies in how it acted upon and what factors are used to reach that state. In what manner does he directly and / or indirectly affect these outcomes? Does he at all? How does it develop? What aspects are in his usage and how does he act on them? Are there allies on his side? Does he utilize them as well? If so, to what extent? How pro-active is he about the conflict, are there any ideological factors or ulterior motives that drive him? Etc.

So I am interested in knowing what distinguishes him as a character and more importantly as a leader. Appreciate if you refrain from any major spoilers.

I believe it's the best anime there is really. I feel like all those things are not really reducible to simple yes/no answers for the most part because everytime the anime leans one way it starts going the other often times. I didn't enjoy anything as much as Code Geass.

I think it started out fine then by season 2 it had a ton of poor writing that made little sense.

And meshing a ton of things together to appeal to as many demographics as possible did not help. A lot of the stuff they throw in didn't work well with other stuff.

So I think it sucks. Not the worse thing ever but it sucks.

But it was one of the shows that led the way for Cross Ange so it will forever be in my heart.

With Cross Ange.

I think a lot of it just has to do with how interesting the characters are to me, they feel like such real portraits and are more diverse.

HxH, as a random example, just has a collection of meatheads for the most part. Hisoka just isn't really... real to me. Or if he is, it's not someone I'd like to get to know. That kind of character captures the surface of a person without any of the real motivations or beliefs. Or rather the ones they have are quite limited. Same with Pitou, Pouf, and honestly can't remember the other guy..

Or Mereum, I mean he's a thug I get it, put him in a 50 cent video, whatever.

I don't really feel the same way about Euphemia or Suzaku, or Cornealia and Clovis, etc.

Ahh it's Kefka's Crazy Characterization Corner, where every character I don't like is somehow submissive or overly masculine (but those are pretty much the same thing right) and also quite shallow by virtue of ignoring the parts that make my analysis totally insane.
