It's the name of the title character. A little more distinctive than "tonari no" which is just normal Japanese words meaning something like "next to."

Fair enough. One of these days I'm going to set aside some time to sit down and start learning some Japanese words/phrases and maybe, eventually, fluent Japanese (I doubt though, I'd probably butcher the hell out of it ).

I think normally we use abbreviations clear enough for others to understand what we're talking about easily, which also makes them pretty easy to google, except when sim was going through that 'pet name' phase and decided Higurashi was actually Higuramalamabama or something.

But yeah, like if I talk about Sidonia, it'd be pretty easy for you to look it up without knowing it's actually "Sidonia no Kishi"/"Knights of Sidonia". (also a pretty good horror-ish show, kinda AoT vibe, +mechs in space, +some romantic nonsense, +3D)

Speaking of which, OdanUrr omg I have great news, the bear lady

Intrigue, strategy and clever used of his 'geass' power which allows him to command anyone to do anything he wants to. But only ONCE since it can't be used on the same person twice.

Some limitation... "Obey me unconditionally from now till you die!"

Mind if I join you?

Be my guest. There's nos shortage of targets.

It's a charming series- so long as you don't read the manga post-timeskip.

What's wrong with the manga?

Haven't watched much anime but last night a group of about 8 of us watched 6 episodes of this anime called "The devil is a part timer" via a TV screen used as a computer monitor. Idk exactly what genre it is considered but it was pretty funny and i liked it more then when they tried to get me to watch the big famous animes.

What's wrong with the manga?

It has a post-timeskip arc that more or less undercuts all the guiltless themes of the familial love story of single father and his adopted daughter and their small circle of normality of parenthood and children, and replaces it with something else that seems to take joy in undercutting all the pleasant expectations of future development and subverting them in various, unneeded ways.

Just a guess... but comedy.

(Just kidding. It's actually comedy.)

Like I said.

Clever use of his Geass Power.

That's about as clever as asking a genie for infinite wishes.

Devil is a Part Timer needs a second season so badly it hurts.

And by 'big famous animes' please don't tell me it was stuff like Naruto.

Damn it.

tumblr_lrwblotPzZ1qagrb6o1_500.gif

Just watch LOTGH already.

Jeez

Anyways.

Finished Bakemonogatari

It was a much better show that I expected it to be.

Meh. You have a power that compels anyone to do absolutely anything for you no questions asked.

What are you going to use it for other than to obey your terms unconditionally?

I'd use it for strippers to clean my house every Thursday but that's just me.

But Lotion was just pointing out that Geass' 'handicap' isn't really a huge handicap if you think about it. He never really does that. Except near the end where it was pretty much intentional for his grand plan or whatever.

Oh and Lotion. You spoiled Fate for me, so don't spoil Geass for Chewin by mentioning what happens in the end. I understand you don't like it, but yeah, don't spoil it xD

And if you're wondering why you spoiled Fate...

Well played.

Personally, I enjoyed it. Once you get that it's as much super robot as real robot, I think it's a solid story all around. Hardly my Top 10 of All Time, but you got real character development, a number of significant plot twists that challenged what everyone thought they knew rather than throw the show into entirely new directions, good amounts of humor and quirkiness with the creative mech designs (and amusing national charicatures) between legit drama, and it capped off with one of the better love confessions you'll ever find in anime.

It's a bit dated, true- animation style for a number of the martial arts sequences (such as the flurry of fists), the period's typical views of casting women in generally weaker and subordinate roles, and of course there's a cast of characters broad enough that you'll doubtless find someone you don't like- but overall most people would still be able to enjoy it despite the flaws.

Devil is a part-timer sure surprised me, since it was actually pretty good. Went in expecting nothing much after reading the synopsis. Leave it to anime to make something sound dumb (IMHO) and make it awesome.

Anyway caught up with Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works.

Synopses for anything are terrible.

I cringe at reading the synopsis for the LOTR books or the Silmarillion. So I hate it when somebody goes "hey what are you reading?" Since of course they'd look at the synopsis.

Accursed Kings synopses are good though.

As for anime?

Yeah, sometimes they can be cringe-worthy.

But the thing is, they say exactly what it is, but it's so cut-and-dry and superficial to what actually happens that you can't help but

to it when you know the contents of the plot.
