I agree that Light was an evil a-hole who needed to die, but I don't agree about the plans.

Oh please.
It wasn't simply possible for all of his gambits to work as planed. Hell, half of his plans were redicolously convoluted.
The guy had so much luck you could see his character/plot shields from orbit.

For example - that wifoe of hte investigator that had a vital clue that could doom him? She just HAPPNED to come ot hte polcie station the same time he did.
There just happened to be a meeting and NO ONE was avilable to talk to her.
She just happened to talk to Light and told him what she knew. She just happened to give him her real name.

Ryuk just happened to detect hidden cams. And no one noticed him chekcing the doors for the pencil?

L just happened to go and directly confront Light.

The memory gambit?

I can go on the whole day...

Light never took a risk where he didn't have the higher the chance of success.

The stuff with Naomi Misora(she was only Raye's fiancée by the way) was stupid... but that has more to do with lazy writing than it does with Light's plans. Still, the way he got her to spill the beans made sense and was believable.

So Ryuk saw them? He lives in Light's room, of course he saw them. And yeah nobody noticed what Light was doing, how could they?

L took a risk so? Light almost lost there, but he regained control of the situation in a believable way.

The memory gambit(it's really sad that you learned how to talk from TV Tropes) was a big risk... That Light still had a good chance at winning, and look! He did win, his plan was over-the-top sure, but in the end it all made sense.

One has to keep in mind, Light is a genius.

I think Light simply over thought things after he was done.

How did he take out L? With an evil council of doom.

How did he take out himself? By hiring two people who were completely obsessed with him but had crap for brains.

He did this because they'd be loyal, of course. That was the issue though. They knew him, which made it SOOOO much easier to catch him. He should've anonymously hired a random group or person just like he did the first time. That way they take the fall while he sits back and laughs.

The last few episodes just felt like the writers trying to come up with reasons to kill Light, imo.

^ Guys like him will always slip, sooner or later. Often they take most of their prime competition out beforehand, and thus step in too deep (unto chaos).

edit: what I mean is that with all sorts of scheming, the card house will start falling apart, especially if it's advanced upwards after some main goal and relief is met.
Dammit, always the metaphors...
Let's say it this way: Light had it coming, both in that he deserved it, and that he couldn't possibly been able to avoid further and more critical difficulties. If he would have "become a dictator", he'd have lost his mind promptly. Same as in the end of the show. The reasons for that were gathered up intensities, of which the consequences are mostly not amendable and the process itself not reversable.

I do actually agree with Ero. Mainly, and I think you can tell this by now... I am less debating and more just having fun with this particular subject matter.

:innocent:

inoright, it's like all we ever talk about anymore...

So, anyone here seen Stein's Gate? Should I watch it like now or avoid it like the plague, or maybe place it somewhere in the middle of that vast spectrum of choice?

Ryuk already found the cameras, so again how could they know what Light was doing?

Of course you think it was stupid, you think everything is stupid.:P

Light comes back home
Notices something is strange
Walks to the side of the door and pick up the broken pencil, sees someone has been in his room
Ruk takes a look around, finds cammeras.

Cammeras have been there and running.

Of course, no one noticing Light was hiding a mini TV in a bag of ships is also stupid. That would be one big bag od chips. Also, TV's emmit light. So it would be a glowing bag of chips...

Actually looking back at the manga in my hand right now... Light found out about the cameras before Ryuk did. He knew from this moment.

As for the mini-TV, it looks like it has a low light so...

I loved the show (I love Caska more, and Winri... mmmm together?) but I did not care for the end.

I like Revy, Haruko Haruhara, Re-l and Pino more.

Not to mention Misato, Ritsuko, Asuka and others from Evangelion. edit: + major Kusanagi.

Which leads me to a question. Who are your favorite and most memorable female characters?

Yin and Re-l Mayer?

I'd also add Inaban from Kokoro Connect

and Birdy from Birdy the Mighty

(these two I have watched quite a bit recently)

The manga is the only thing that matters.

^ Hahaha. That was a pretty witty remark.
Hopefully no hard feelings and we can go on with the thread though...

Anyway, just watched "K", this new "stylish" anime with all kinds of super-powers and stuff. It...was... interesting in that it obviously took the "music is great in anime's" and stylizing stuff too far. It felt like a mix between Durarara!!, Air Gear, maybe Chrome Shelled Regios or something and a jazzy music vid. The jazz part is a bit lame though. And it didn't have the sort of personality that Air Gear or Chrome Shelled has. It actually reminded me more of another recent anime, cannot remember the name, but it was all flash (though on another planet), with different kinds of "player" characters competing with each other and showing their powers off. A bit of a mixed bag.

But if you enjoy a smooth-jazz music vid with superpowers all over, stylization and some amnesiac-like main character who apparently used to be an evil "modern King", you can give it a try.

@Raging_Bull

If you enjoyed super-natural stuff in the likeness (and depth) of Ergo Proxy and Darker Than Black, I'd very much vouch you'd watch Baccano! and tell us what you think. Would be interesting to hear.

Finished the story mode in One Piece: Pirate Warriors on the PS3.

Seriously, this game is among the best anime games I've ever played. Anime games usually suck, or are mediocre at best (I've heard Naruto has some okay games though, but I hate Naruto, so obviously I'm not interested in the games either). One Piece: Pirate Warriors proves that anime games can be very good and very cool.

I'm kinda sad that some of my favorite arcs from One Piece are not in the Pirate Warriors game, like Sky Island and Thriller Bark. I truly hope to see these arcs in future Pirate Warrior games.

I was just watching Darker than black again actually. I finding more depth within a show after watching it again. I remember Amber and what she did. Pretty much erasing herself for the greater good and so Hei can be happy. Bittersweet moments for November, Huang, etc. Along with Hei and Bai's brief conversation. * Gets teary eyed *

At least you do think about me.

Anyway to get out of this, I am going to add something new to this thread.... And that is Visual novels, no I don't mean dating sims but if you know a good/interesting one, by all means share it with us.

The kind of Visual novels I like are mostly Mystery stories. Because they put interesting characters in interesting situations. In fact I am going to list some of my favorite VN characters.

Posted Image

Miles Edegworth(from the Ace Attorney series).

He is a classy guy, that's all that needs to be said about him.=]

Posted Image

Seven(from 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors).

He looks like the "big dumb guy" type of character but he is actually pretty smart. Also a badsss.

Posted Image

Clover(also from 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors).

like the banter Now if I got into the big reasons on why I like her, it would be nothing but spoilers. So I am just going to say, I like that she isn't afraid to say what she thinks. I like the banter between her and Seven.

I also think she is quite cute, and if you know me, you know I don't say that about many female characters here.

Posted Image

Monokuma(from Dangan Ronpa)

A masochistic teddy bear with Doraemon's voice, what's not to love?

Everyone here should read this playthrough of Dangan Ronpa. It's fairly unpredictable out the first chapter (and even that has some clever twists) and it heads in the direction of absolute craziness.

Wow this is the most spoiler free post I have ever made in this thread.
