I think I have a strange perspective because I was kind of surrounded by people that watched a ton of anime, including classics and all that.

 

The fact is though I'm increasingly appreciating how that is definitely not the norm so, I end up not really knowing what to expect.

 

The other thing is to be honest as crazy as it was it was also kind of.. I don't know... it seems like a lot of things just aren't very fun, so it would be odd to bring it up and then kind of dismiss it.

 

I can't dismiss the crazy aspect though, it is certifiably insane.

Edit: Oh you mean Utena in the top 10 eh? That's impressive. I tried watching Bakemonogatari on crunchyroll for like 10 seconds and then just fell asleep.. so confused about that one.

 

Also just where's that song from Utena... that alone is fairly off the rails.

Well in fairness that doesn't rule it out being fun, I was pretty tired at the time. Maybe I'll revisit it at some point. Mostly I was frustrated that the girl with the blue hair wasn't showing up quickly.

Crazy fits it well Especially the movie which I'm pretttty sure was drug inspired lol

 

I just like how it's drenched in symbolism and meaning, plus I found the animation quite appealing alongside the wonderful OS

 

Plus I have a huge crush on Utena herself and her hair

 

As for Akio... He's a glorious bastard if I ever saw one

But yea, PMMM and Utena are the 2 best I've seen. Utena is fairly atypical for the genre though. I've even met people who watched the whole thing without realizing it was even considered a magical girl anime.
