Watched BTOOOM! just now. It surprised me. I didn't hope anything from the already cliche'd type of anime along the lines of "life and death game" and "virtual reality". SAO sucks, and none of the others fitting either criteria have been remotely interesting or intriguing (for example Mirai Nikki, Deadman Wonderland etc). With the exception of the GREAT .hack/SIGN.

But this one has some style and psychological stuff going on, so I'll happily watch more of it!

Got roped into watching Ginga e Kickoff yesterday, and I'm surprised I got hooked. As far as anime goes I'm usually not into sports shounen, but there's something about childhood soccer that hooked me. I wonder what?

Oh, I know: childhood soccer.

It's got a nice cast of characters, some reasonably good animation/music/concerns, but most of all it makes no needless attempts at edgy drama or cringe-comedy. Problems exist, but are reasonable. If you get past that no one I ever knew was that good at soccer, it really brought home memories of childhood.

I was never into sports, but I do love manga/anime about sports.

Of course I only like the series that are good, stuff like Slam Dunk.

I can't say I've ever watched a sports anime actually. I watched some scenes from Fighting Spirit, but I should look into some other stuff.

Both Slam Dunk and Yawara! are my favorites when it comes to sports manga/anime.

One interesting thing about Yawara! is that Naoki Urasawa made it. Most people here in the west know more about Urasawa's later series, such as Monster, 20th Century Boys and Pluto.

In a Manga, are chapters basically episodes? Would it work like that?

Okay, legitimately, anyone who's a fan of fantasy anime or the fantasy genre at all, watch The Legend of the Legendary Heroes.

.Not only does it have the best title ever, it's also an amazing anime.

Being one of the Kickstarter cheerleaders, I need to show you guys this project:

http://www.kickstart...ef=home_popular

After all the talk about animation not being the same as in the 90's and early til mid 2000's, I am just obligated to back this project.

The staff is excellent and the idea itself fantastique!

Masaaki Yuasa's "Kick-Heart"
by Production I.G

edit (I'm just prone to doing these kickstarter edits you know): it really is controversial though, and nothing similar to GITS or the other oldies, as opposed to the stuff's advertised. But it does seem in the vein of Mind Game, which I loved.

Anyway, I either won't back it myself, or will buy the 60 dollar deal with free shipping and no-DRM blu-ray - but it's interesting how the project would unfold, at the very least. Here's an interesting commenting section (be sure to expand the comments lest you get false facts).

I remember picking up the DVD of that a very long time ago, there was a very ethereal quality to the show. I never ended up playing the bazillion games they made from the franchise, though - just that first season.

She sucks.

Haruhi is best Animony. o_o

Prince of Tennis is epic. It's one of the best sports animes ever. Everyone should totally watch that anime for the sheer awesomeness that the anime builds up to.

I'll watch it, if only to get an idea.

Though still, I'm not sure you're serious, Heretic.
