Okay, I actually finished Wolf's Rain for real this time. Had some issues getting through it, namely some lack of continuity and general believability ("cheesiness" if I had to summarize it in one word) and four recap episodes in a row (they add a few new bits to screw you for skipping them, too, though I guess it worked out for me since I needed the reminder anyway after a long hiatus), which prevent me from saying it's the best thing ever...

But now that I finally finished it after a long hiatus and a short hiatus ("I finished the 'anime,' I can watch the 'ova' later") I can say it's pretty good despite those things. The characters are well fleshed out and human despite being goddam furries like Sonic, and the themes feel meaningful without being overly preachy (most of the time) leading up to a very strong conclusion that does justice to both the character drama and the show's overarching themes. And I can be quick to call a thing pretentious, but in this case it does feel like a fair amount of thought was put into all the symbolism thrown in there.

Though downloading anime to watch later was a really good move (thanks Liam), I have most of my list downloaded by now. Sans the Tiger and Bunny movie Clone, I want to hold off on that until I can get someplace with good enough internet to reinforce that it won't crash mid-download.

Nah its fine I'll get to it eventually, besides I still have to finish Steins;Gate(I'm at episode 7) and at least pick Luca or Cloche. Which is still a hard one.

I can see your viewpoints regarding UBW, and after rewatching the episode I noticed a lot more what I missed. I must simply have a certainly personal bias against Shirou and Rin, especially Shirou since he was an idiot in the 2006 version and is generally hated by Type Moonies. UBW certainly does a more capable job with him now, though bit skeptical if it will continue to deliver.

Eh? Shirou is hated by Moonies? Anyone who watched Deen's version of F/SN will think so, but anyone who has played the VN won't. He is in fact quite popular by fans and is often ranked quite high in popularity polls (even higher than several Servants). Heck, even in all of Type Moons character polls he gets ranked quite high. 

 

I wouldn't worry on how Shirou gets represented in UBW.
