Skimmed the Akame Ga Kill mange. Definetely a lot different later on. Cant' say the managa is better. It just keep throwing in more and more enemies with ever more redicolous powers

 

I guess 48 imperial arms wasn't enough (like the 140 pokemon) so they they now bring in some lesser weapons. With new characters that feel like old ones that are going to die fast anyway.

Dude, it's a Battle Manga.

 

Weird and wacky things as weapons are kinda the goal.

 

Like Zoro having three swords, one of which is held by his mouth.

 

Or Kumagawa from Medaka Box using giant-ass screws as his weapon.

 

Just go with it. As long as stuff like that doesn't come up in LOTGH-type anime/Vagabond-type manga it's pretty much expected.

 

Of course, other Battle Manga don't flow that way, but eh, you get it enough for it not be such a weird thing anymore.

 

So since it's a Battle Manga it's supposed to be stupid? Sorry, I don't follow that thought pattern.

It works for JoJo, because Jojo is whacky and over the top from the get-go and knows what it is.

But anything that tries to have depth needs to hold itself to higher standards... or maybe I should say that *I* will hold it to a higher standard.

 

AGK has some nice bits, but overall, it falls short on many levels. Frankly I think I prefer (early) Bleach to it.

So I gave Attack on Titan a spin... yeah... that one hasn't gone so well.

It's alright. I don't get the colossal praise it gets but it's a mostly solid show.

My issue is mainly it starts off pretty intense but then it honestly just resembles like a Gundam or just some random Shonen after awhile.

 

It was the same thing with Death Note, it's got this big juicy intro but then downshifts to neutral, rising only to meet certain expectations periodically that were set in stone from the very first episode. Heck or Bleach for that matter.

 

But yeah Mikasa is kinda neat so there is that. I can see her raising interest above a certain level.

Chelsea...damn Chelsea. This show is already crazy with the tech and "body modifications", but how does a drug prevent someone from dying when their spinal cord is frakked?

 

Seems like they're killing all guys off so the main will be left with a harem.

Ah good, if we agreed on this part I'm not sure that I would survive the shock. Mine with the glorious gun named "Pumpkin"

 

But more or less agree on most other points. I could roll with it for 19 episodes at least but not really possible anymore. Bulat was just too good to be true it seems..

Now to UBW and HF. With DA:I in the way tomorrow progress will be slow, but if it's a total load of bollocks at least the VN will soothe my soul.

The last 2 days in Fate were the only 2 days in that route that I actually thought were good. 

 

UBW and HF are so much better than Fate. I think Fate even had 2 or 3 days with almost only cooking or barely anything exciting happening while UBW and HF fairly quickly pick up.

 

I'm interested to see your reactions to the other 2 routes.

My favourite parts of any book are when the characters just sit and talk.

The worst thing about SnK for me is definitely the hype. I hate going into some of the anime stores here or like a convention and seeing 80% of the merch be for that is a bit frustrating. I mean I like it all but have a little variety.

I know a few people like that. I have a couple friends IRL that have really good tastes including one of my oldest childhood friends who originally convinced me to watch PMMM, but most people I talk to are more casual watchers if anything and are like that.

Also just a quick note on the Bleach and SnK thing. I could easily see SnK turn into another Bleach if it let's the hype and popularity go to its head. Don't forget once upon a time Bleach was actually good and fresh too IMO...

Read the new Bleach. Another one of those chapters in which nothing happens and what do you know? Another fight with people who feel the need to explain their powers in detail to the enemy. Also the strongest guys powers are sort of stupid. He can cut the names of things? So he hits the arm and it becomes "ar" instead of "arm" and cuts the effectiveness in half? Ummmm OK... Guess I shouldn't be surprised at this point.

I really need to start up One Piece. I need an ongoing manga to read that is released weekly that isn't at Bleach and Narutos levels of stupidity.

I still need to read the new SnK chapter as well.
