And she just said casually, she INVENTED THAT SPECIAL

The more I look at it, the more AgK look like someone tried to put some of the most memoriabel and poplar battle managa/anime in a blender.

Making up powers to conveniently deal with a situation is a huge pet peeve of mine. Not so much in shows that are just stupid fun, but if it's trying to be serious I just see that as poor execution.

Yeah I haven't seen the series so I can't really comment, but this is one case I think we can probably completely agree on.

Seriously this is agony.

Nah brah. Agony is waiting 6 hours in queue to play the new WoW expansion, having the game crash on the character loading screen and getting sent to the start of the queue again.

On top of that I booked that day off of work just to be able to play, which is the 2nd day I've taken off all year just to come in the next day and find out they decided to have their Christmas party that day last second during which they gave every employee who attended 100 bucks for free.

How's that for agony?

Honestly the only straight battle anime I liked at all was Claymore, and that was more because of the characters than any stylistic innovation, reinterpretation, or re invigoration of the genre.

 

Like God Eye Galatea.

 

 

Still, it also felt like it kinda kept itself together... relatively speaking.... which is a good bonus.

Well, how could one not be charmed by them? They're just like regular girls, only magical!

Claymore was pretty good. Personally it comes 2nd to Berserk for the type of story it is to me, but it's still up there. Speaking of which I still need to get caught up on the manga. It's been a couple months.

Tell me how it is Sim. I sort of want to play it but I'm also kind of on the fence with that one until I hear some reliable reviews (I'd consider you reliable, especially considering we have similar tastes for our fantasy stories)

I honestly forgot about DA:I... the thing is one thing I never really saw discussed is how the actual game is, they spend so much time on the other stuff I feel like it's the ultimate afterthought. It's like randomly assembled from every other open world/fantasy RPG ever made.

 

Anyway I don't know would Berserk qualify as a battle anime? I think of them as just gothic fantasy but I don't really know if there's an official title for both. They're both about equal for me I guess. Berserk has Griffith and the Eclipse, Claymore has Clare and better outfits/style IMO.

Oh I got Warlords also. See that's the thing, the story is pure cheese ball but it's such a refined cheese ball I can't help but sink time into it.

Oh I meant mainly as a dark fantasy sort of story, sorry.

 

Most of the things I think Berserk does well that I feel make it so worthy of praise are a bit later into the series (further then the anime went) so I don't think I could go into it very effectively with you (Well, I could, but it would turn into book posts) I think the story itself has more depth to it, and I'm a huge fan of the art style as well. The only manga that passes my love for Berserks art style is The Rebellion Story manga, and even then Berserk gives it a run for it's money (I'm a huge fan of the Love Craftian horror style though so that plays a huge reason as to why)

 

Can't really argue with your point on Claymore though A ton of hot girls and everyone could cut and rip me to shreds which somehow just manages to make them even hotter
