I am still watching FMA: Brotherhood. I do really like it but I can't help but feel like I am treading through a lot of familiar territory.

It veers more from the original later in the series right?

Though, I can't complain about more Winri Rockbell. Blonde hair, blue eyes, and a love for power tools! Sounds like heaven to me.

The first ~15 episodes makes the show seem like a poor man's version of original but you'll a lot of things different after that, in a very positive way. The only good part about the first season is the OP and ED which are frickin' brilliant.

*remember to always check if there's extra scenes after the ED. I missed that completely when I first watched it

If I'm not mistaken, FMAB is more faithful to the manga.  I think FMA had to go off on its own because it went beyond what had been written and published at the time.

You are correct.

Same thing happened to Soul Eater, hopefully that will also get a "Brotherhood" type of remake once the manga is done.

Just watched the first ep of Magical Girl Madoka, after having seen and heard all the praise about its depressive and mind****y featurettes.

It's all Black Rock Shooter would wish to be. + it's always nice hearing the composer of .hack.

Has anyone seen Little Busters yet?

It's another Key anime except this time made by JC Staff, which doesn't have a good track record of making quality anime. The first episode is already pretty bad IMO, though I really love the character designs.

The animation quality is definitely better than Angel Beats! It is just too bad that Kyoto Animation couldn't pick up this project, because Little Busters definitely has a lot of potential.

I've been waiting for this to release for a while now. I love J.C. Staff's animation style. They're incredible. I had no idea this was out yet, thanks bmw :D

Fun fact: I used to conisder myself an expert on anime before I participated in this thread. I've never heard of half the shows you guys talk about. lol

Though I'm fairly sure no one here has watched Canaan.

As much as I like KyoAni, what you're saying does not make much sense in my humble opinion.

Honey and Clover, Nodame Cantabile, Asatte no Houkou, Toradora! and Excel Saga are already reason enough to not doubt JC's competence. Not to mention that their list of produced anime is 11 times longer than Kyoani's.

Though personally I would have preferred a Kyoani continuation of Key novels, I'm definitely not going to pass on this one (I'm waiting for Doki to sub it though).

That's kind of my point.

Out of all these anime they have made, there are only a few that I consider good anime.  I'd rather them produce less anime and have a higher hit rate like Kyoani.

Yup, that's a good point.

Though very many of them are famous and do well, I haven't seen or bothered with most of them.

Would really hope for quality and emphasis-on-production-value similar to the shows I mentioned - these kinda fit the emotional parts of Key novels, and given that Key anime is fairly well known, I don't expect JC Staff to blunder exactly.

Now watch the new on-going by J.C.Staff and say it isn't good.

Sakura-sō no Pet na Kanojo is highest of production value! Now I usually don't watch anime with "Kanojo" in its title, but this one is way original and cool!

Definitely looks better than their other works.

I think I'll watch this pet girlfriend anime instead of Little Busters!

In the interests of not making this thread page slow and the gifs occasionally unwatchable, here's a link instead.

It's not that hard to be an expert on anime, now manga on the other hand... That took me some years to become a master on.

I have said it before, the west only gets like 5% of all manga. And I am not just talking about what they sell here, I am talking about fan translations as well. The world of manga is a giant one.

I'm watching Shiki and HOLY CRAP this show just gets better and better.

It's great for anyone who wants to watch something a little spooky. It's also a great psychological thriller.

"I see..."

"Right now..."

"I'M IN HELL."

10 points if you can guess where this quote is from.
