I'm almost 50 hours in and I've just reached the Fade.
Been painting the house all afternoon.
So haven't had time for either.

Oh boy, you're coming to some big revaluations and the most dickish choice Bioware has ever made, I swear the writers where like "Lets see, what can we do to make the player lose their mind into despair, I KNOW!."

It's such a respectful rivalry that you can't just help but eat up every word they say.
I mean, if they were having an argument, it would have been... eh.
But no. Thank god for that.
It's one of the best conversations, if not the best one in the anime.

Very true, it is easily one of my favorite rivalries in fiction and can't help love and root for them both respectively on such an equal basis. And yes, it is indeed a good scene, and doesn't overstay its welcome nor does it try to favor one character over the other--wherein it manages to properly convey both individuals belief systems in reflection to their governing bodies.
Truly, it is simply delicious to watch.

Rarely do you see a rivalry so balanced on every scale.
Not even ASOIAF manages to pull it off as good as LOTGH in my opinion.
From a moral and political perspective both sides have their pros and cons and weigh each other out so well that you really find it hard to figure out "who is right." My beliefs lean more towards Yang's side, that's why I can easily say 'Alliance.' However, I can in no way delude myself into thinking that his is the absolute truth. That'd be contradicting Yang himself and there's no way I could do that.
Right now you have 49 epic episodes to go. And you'll have one of the best battles in LOTGH to come. A real "Code Geass" thing with tricks and traps...
But 100x better because... damn it. I can't say who because it'll give away something but it would've made for great alliteration.

G.R.R Martin could right 3000 pages of nothing but conversation and I'll read it all in 48 hours.
Speaking of which, it wouldn't surprise me if this next book will be the best selling book of all time given its demand.
I'll probably have to pre-order a copy.
If I were ever to read fan fic, I'd love to see a well-done conversation between Reinhard and Phillip the Long from Accursed Kings.
Trust me, it would be epic. And Chewin once you get round to those books, I assure you, The Count of Poiters will be your fast favourite by book 3. Maybe even before that.
(Accursed Kings really satisfies your ASOIAF urges and even moreso since politics is really the centre of the narrative rather than a driving force for the characters. Basically, what ASOIAF lacks in poitics, Accursed Kings makes up for it ten-fold, whereas the same applies in terms of characters for Accursed Kings and ASOIAF. They compliment each other reaallly well.)
