Well from my perspective there isn't nearly as much insanity or snark as far as I'm concerned in Anime or JRPG compared to.. you know the random TV show/Movie.
I mean yeah there's some weirder stuff, but like Spice and Wolf for instance... it's just like hey a guy and a girl... like each other... have fun together.. go outside... get stuck in the rain...
I guess maybe it's "insane" relative to a norm in TV or entertainment, but if it's the norm that's kind of insane, well, the norm is kind of insane.
