I just find the character design off-putting and I'm short on time these days, so it's been sitting on the backburner for a while.
Personally I don't think you'll like Clannad or even After Story.
Especially After Story's ending.
But give it a try, maybe I'm wrong.

I like bittersweet stories and endings, and true-to-life stories too. I live for the feels.
Although something hard-hitting like 5cm Per Second or Clannad is something I savor like fine wine. Too much of it leads to depression.

It's just... well what you like in anime doesn't really hit until After Story and I'm still not sure if you'll like the ending at all really.
Just keep in mind that the ending is foreshadowed a lot, and there are supernatural elements to the plot.
With that in mind, I hope you enjoy Clannad and everything that comes with it.
You'll certainly love the Fuko arc

Finished The Irregular at Magic Highschool and Noragami last week.
TIaMH was pretty cool show. Quite intellectual which went way over my head, had some decent characters, great protagonist, and some good plots. I think this show could have instead have removed itself from a highschool setting, since there isn't really much going on in the school (unless one counts the Olympics as school).
Noragami was good, though it felt like I was watching a spin off of the Monogotari series. The animation looks strikingly similar, the character has the same jokes and personality and Araragi (I am certain the guy is voiced by the same actor) and it also delves into supernatural things. Not bad by any means, but yeah, it was like Monogatari, except a bit more lighthearted.
