But yeah. Gibraltar's politics are more akin to football than anything else. Can you believe that the third party that ran for office here only got 2% of the votes? Definitialy interesting UBW episode. Felt a bit different than what we have seen previously. A lot more humorous, and it works IMHO.

This weeks Log Horizon might've been one of the more slow paced ones but it was an episode entierly focused on inspiration and have some inspirational words. Might even think about them for a while!

Very clear that it's an episode focused on preparing for the coming episodes and not an episode that I'll really remember by itself but without it I got a feeling what comes next just wouldn't work. Vital episode and solid episode but not the exciting one!

It's a very silly show that use characters with quirks taken to 11 and put them in somewhat random scenarios related to survival game and let them act within the scenario. The show is lead by a main character that's selfish, sadistic, rude, lying, thief, arrogant and more less nobel traits but she's the driving force within the show and everything depend on her for good or bad. This is like I said a silly show and expecting it to be coherent or involve growth or such will only lead to disappointment since it's minimal in these areas. But it was a fun watch and a good use of time before I might go for a bit more serious shows.

Was rather conflicted over this particular episode.

 

It's more of a personal bias rather than judging the episode's quality, since while I understand that this particular one's functionality was to serve as a bridge for upcoming events and putting focus on characterization, it felt more like an iteration of previous episodes which have had a similar focus and wasn't executed to the desired extent.

 

For early episodes in a show, I find it necessary to bring forth enough exposition to lay the groundwork for the narrative to flow without it turning into an info-dump. Everything from the setting to character's motivation, and so on. UBW has done a more capable job than Fate/Zero did in that regard, whereupon it has laid down it all the key components for the narrative to flow, yet leaving enough questions to be answered as it gradually progresses. However, as of late it currently has been circling around a similar topic that it delves into without a real hint of having a proper direction, mainly in terms of character progression. The show is taking up more questions than answers, and while I do find them essential, I am not particularly a fan on how it has continuously been 'dismissive' about it.

 

E.g. that moment in the end in particular, when company was discussing Kiritsugu. It is a vital scene, with several questions having been brought up before, but this time with a more direct confrontation to the characters. It is essential for Saber and Shirou respectively, both in terms for them personally and their relationship with each other. However, the show never takes the initiative to answer on these lingering questions. It is rather annoying how it keeps having the characters dodge away from them. While it is true that their reasoning behind their behavior is warranted (Saber not willing to openly discuss her motivations for desiring the Grail, Shirou not wishing to answer Saber's question regarding the topic of "hero of justice"), I do find it important that episodes like these puts such aspects into focus and progressively builds up as the show goes along. UBW has so far established subtle but important channels for providing characterization and playing out conflicts between the episodes in a coherent manner, but this particular one was left rather short on that regard, wherein it didn't offer much at all.

 

Anyhow as I said, more of a quasi-rant on my part that I personally find to be a bother. The show is 'only' at its ninth episode, so there is plenty of time for it to properly delve into these aspects. Still, we are reaching the end of the first cour, and I personally find it important that the first half manages to properly portray the characterization for its leads--putting into the limelight their reasoning behind their motives and having the second half them fighting for it.

Watched the first 3 episodes of Jojo. It's certainly different, in a good way. Very stylistic and it has an almost random factor to it that makes it engaging. The term manly man comes to mind.

And Dio.. What a guy.. Kills the main characters dog, beats Jojo up and steals his girls first kiss just cause he can. Now that's a villain!

Also watched an episode of Squid Girl.. I have no idea how they came up with this concept but something tells me I shouldn't over think it.

What if I told you I'm planning on watching LotGH during my 12 days off at the end of the month, despite all the SPOILERS y'all have dumped on me (actually its mostly just Sims fault)

Mm you need to play Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Seeing as how we have similar tastes in emotionally destructive fiction I could see you really appreciating that game. Only takes a few hours to beat too.

Probably the closest I've gotten to Clannads level of emotional devastation in another piece of media.
