Enough with the "You just don't get it" BS.
You loving Luffy and thinking him a great character is also just an oppinion, so get off the high horse. What exactly are you trying to prove here?

And it feel like I'm talking to a wall too. Actually a broken record. And no, being a main character is not enough of a reason.

It might be more about the interpreting of a character, in which case not every opinion is spot on. Though there's no point to this ongoing (hopefully ended) talk, in principle, opinions are inferior to knowledge. The latter being unattainable in full, but still a worthy pursuit, even fragmentally I'd think.
Because of this, every strongly rooted opinion needs some stepping back and flexibility once in a while (which clearly will not be the case, or even enough with this topic).

That said, this does feel like a pointless, everlasting "discussion", I've tried to hint to that many times myself. One of you should just stop replying. Would be a step appreciated by all others.

...

What do you guys think of Toki wo Kakeru Shojo? It's one of the anime I believe most of the people who are uninitiated to anime should see... But where does it fall, genre-wise? Seinen?

EDIT: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, that is...

Has anyone here seen Blood+?(same studio that did GITS:SAC)
It was pretty much my favourite anime for a while, really made me forget how awful the movie was.

Really? I watched the entire Blood+ series and I thought it was even worse than the 50-minute movie.

I tried to watch it, but it was one of those titles that are to be postponed indefinitely.

I'll most certainly watch it some more later on, it seemed at least decent.

That movie had no plot and was just all action with little background on Saya's character and what exactly the Chiropterans are.And Studio I.G's visual style is much easier on the eyes.
And talk about taking you on an emotional ride, that ending:crying:. Oh yes and it's got one of the best characters in Anime, Haji

Ive seen that a while back. I can't remember names but was that the one with the girl (think her name was Saya) who killed demon looking things. But although she looked human she was something else. Her blood caused her butler/friend to transform? If it was then it was a fun one. I liked it

EDIT: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, that is...

My last reply to him was a last chance and all he did was dodge my question and made a childish reply, so yeah I am done with him on this discussion for good.

As for it just being the interpreting of Luffy's character, I don't know about that since he put Luffy in the same boat as Son Goku(a gag character) and Naruto(they are nothing alike) so he was dead wrong from the start. Opinions are opinions and facts are facts and they can be hard to tell apart but if you can sit back and start to think about it, you can tell them apart.;)

Anyway eroeru sorry for the long long LONG debate but like I said it was a last chance and I believe in second/last chances, so you got to try... until you really know you are talking to a wall.:?

And as for The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, well it's genres are drama, romance and science fiction but for who it is for? hard to say it was a young adult novel first. So that could mean anything from Shonen/Shojo to Seinen/Josei I myself would put it in Seinen/Josei but that is just me.

Too bad you can't tell, eh?
Seriously, you know it's bad taste to talk bad about other people when theyxcan see/hear you?

She: The Ultimate Weapon episode 9. Just one long tragic episode, Two major character deaths including one of my favorite character it was insanely sad.

AIR -Michiru's goodbye. The ending was really sad too but this moment for me was more sad it was just a beautiful side story they had going and the finale of it with this was so sad to watch.

Also this scene from Eureka Seven. Love this anime so much and it even has a great English dub.

Dominic and Anemone wasn't sad! It's happy! Or, I guess it kind of starts off sad... anyway, it's a really beautiful scene.

Just started with DBZ, and well, I'm in love with the series. So I'm rather sad I have 400+ episodes to watch, and don't want to do anything else, really. (it's sad, yet awesome, really)

Still, anyone in the right mind should start with the original; the whole impact of it comes from the connection with the characters and gag-anime syle, established via the first (147) episodes.

What an omoshiroi show...

I actually dropped it for good last month. The feeling that it's only a lesser copy of One Piece is growing stronger added to the fact that is has no clear direction whatsoever. This tournament thingy = boring, and the random forced power-up they got before entering because they failed to make an effort to train was insulting to me as a reader :(

And I don't think it'll get the chance to take Bleach's place when that ends since it looks like Naruto is coming to a conclusion as well and then we can forget this whole "big three" thing.

The "big three" right now are One Piece, Naruto and Toriko. Even Jump hates Bleach...=]

Soon as Naruto is done it will be hard to say what will take it's place. If Hunter x Hunter keeps having new chapters for the next some years it will be in the one to take Naruto's place in the "big three" but it will still never have the mainstream love that the others get.

But as for Fairy Tail, it is really boring and has no characters that one could care for, I mean maybe Erza, hell the manga would be better if she was the main character, in my view. The last some chapters also have had bad art.

It takes some time for it to get good the Ice Hell arc is what gets most people into it and everyone had the same view that the first some chapters were boring.

I myself like it for the same reasons I like good Jump manga. It has a great adventure feel, fun characters and some nice art, most of all the art of the monsters and the food is great and since they are a big part of what makes the manga it's good they look so good.

I would also add it comes off like a 1980's Jump manga in the sense it has more gore and blood than most new Jump manga so a lot of older people(Fist of the North Star fans) read it.

The thing is... the whole premis, and the stupid dialogue (three pages of dialogue about how Toriko shat 15 kilos) makes me quite angry at it. If there is one manga that actually does give bad examples, it's this one (from what I've read).

It was "funny" dialogue.=]

The premis gets better when you get to know more about Toriko and what the bad guys do, so the food thing will make sense or about as much sense as a fantasy manga about food can get.

Still you can't blame Jump for thinking it is better than Bleach.

As bad as the Toriko anime is, I still can not believe they got Akira Kushida to sing the theme song.

I do hope that the author doesn't give too much spotlight to Natsu, cause thats the downwards of this manga, then he must focus more screentime to minor Characters. At least the latest chapter keeps me interested for a while, fingers cross not some another asspull happen in this arc, but I'm still predicting that to happen. :(

Natsu is a very cookie-cutter shonen main heroand his fights are boring. Again Erza would make a better main character.

And there will be more asspulls, this is Fairy Tail we are talking about.=]

Does anyone like any anime with fan-service in it (looking at you, Some Geth)?

I just noticed that two anime that I love and Geth thinks crap have many fan-servicy moments in them - though I myself did not take them as such - it was more like a part of an attitude for both.

Fanservice and I guess Ecchi can be a double-edged sword in my view.

Stuff like women's looks, clothing and roles I mean, like look at One Piece it's women's looks and clothing doesn't bother me usually. Because One Piece has such exaggerated everything that big secondary sexual things fit. The guys are all rippling with muscle and often forget to button up shirts. I mean what is Franky if not a cartoon of male physical libido?

But that is just One Piece and the fanservice of One Piece is still low and never really gets in the way of the story.
Things like Fairy Tail, Gantz and Air Gear I can deal without.

Still I do like some fanservice manga like anything by Osamu Tezuka, Go Nagai and Clamp's Chobits was good. But that has more to do with who made them and not that they are fanservice.

So I really never go looking for Ecchi stuff is what I am saying.

But anyway I am going to end this post now before I get into a rant on how much I hate Japan's sexism and carp manga/anime like Highschool of the Dead.=]
