Couldn't have said it better myself on either Death Note or Avatar. Love Death Note until the time skip and after that it's ok.

And yeah the good guys are "too good" for me to really connect with any of them besides Toph. She's so much more than her disabillity and she show that she actually can use it to become even stronger. Need more of this!

As much as I love Death Note, I can't agree on it being number one (mainly because of the latter half.) I agree with Dominus. I LOVE how it ends. A lot of people don't and I have yet to understand why.

 

And FMAB basically is the manga still, there's about 10% of it that DIDN'T make it in, which makes me sad because it's more clear in the manga that Ed's got the hots for Winry.

Yes, I do agree with it dragging on its latter half but the rest of the series makes up for what it is lacking. Besides you would be done with series before you can actually notice it lol which what happened to me. But yea its a personal list so I do kinda expect other people to disagree with death note as number one. My list is more on what anime I should introduce my friends into if they are actually new to anime and I think its fair that Deathnote should be high on that list.

 

Naming what's the best anime out there is actually more difficult (if we remove all the technical stuff on reviewing them) as it can be mostly be based on preference.

 

I have yet to finish the manga of FMA and I should catch up... with mangatraders gone its going to be difficult for me >_< (i prefer downloading mangas).

 

Beck is really good but can be dragging to some. Added it to my list to add diversity you should watch it the soundtrack is awesome!

Well he did suggest to Reinhard a plan how they would kill Wenli and make it look like an accident (having an Imperial messanger dying in the process) but was naturally refuted by Reinhard.

From a pragmatic point of view, I agree with Oberstein. Yang Wenli is more or less the sole reason behind the whole resistance movement, so removing him would be the easiest solution, and as quickly as possible. Reinhard knows this, but due to his romanticized views he wants to so it only do it in head-to-head battle. even Mittermeyer and Reuental discussed that this would be the most viable option. Quite ironic that things ultimately went in their favor.

Eh, would hardly justify Archer's actions. He simply doesn't want to hear and deal with Shirou's naive views and behavior, so he thinks taking him out is the most viable option, which I disagree with but I can understand his POV.

Aye, it F/SN is an eroge novel, and I myself am not a fan of the harem genre or at least I can take such shows seriously (tough guess that is the point). However, the way UBW has developed, there are viable options for the story to lean to either Saber's or Rin's favor, since the relationship is rather well handled thus far, more so with Rin. I've already made posts regarding the relationship with Rin and why it works, and I am certain that the VN does an adept job at portraying it for any of the characters. Though can't comment on that personally since haven't read it yet.

Totally, without Yang, it'd be a very simple matter of crushing what's left of the resistance. Reinhard's "honour" costs millions of lives, and I suppose if you look at it from a certain angle, it's quite the dickish move on his part.

Indeed, which is also why I love Reinahard, since while he is often viewed as a prodigy with no equal, he is quite flawed in several ways and by no means perfect. If he was, I would loathe the guy.

Also it further portrays the problems of having a sole person with the highest authority--his will is the law, and even when Reinhard brings so many assets on the table as a ruler, there are also liabilities. I do love how the show manages to portray this through different ways, both for the Empire and the Alliance.

1. Shirou and Archer hate each other. Archer tried to kill Shirou and Saber before he saved him from Caster. 

2. We don't know that. We only know what happens in the epilogue and that the chances that Shirou turns into Archer in any of the routes are very very low (confirmed by Nasu himself). Hell in Fate Hollow Axtaraxia we even see an older rin talk with a younger rin about Shirou so he is at least fine in that timeline.

 

But Shirou is 10/10 husbando material though. I can totally understand why some of the heroines fall for him. I totally would  .

As it turns out, that was probably one of the best deccisions they made commercially wise considering every living otaku in Japan loves Saber for some reason.

I would too. Perfect characters are simply not relatable. Yes, they can be "awesome" but in the end, they do little for me.

 

Even Yang has his flaws, and I'm talking about as a leader, not a person (though there's flaws there too, quite adorable ones in fact xD) His idealism is what got him killed, if he had for once, taken power into his own hands, he would have perhaps survived. It was upon Dickhead's orders (the dude from El Facil) that made him open the doors.

 

It's quite a shame, when it comes to Wenli, if it weren't for Democracy he could have lived the rest of his days under relative peace under the Empire. Reinhard was by no means, a cruel man, and treated him with the utmost respect.

 

But since I'm quite biased with Wenli, are there any other flaws you could point out?

 

And yes, like I've said before, I've never seen a balance of morality and political philosiphy done so well outside LOTGH. If you ever find that, please tell me because I've love to watch/read it.

Doubt there is anything in particular that you wouldn't be aware of yourself regarding Yang and his weaknesses. As you said yourself, his two major ones are his firm idealistic nature towards democracy and his lack of any real ambitions. While in a way could also be seen as his strengths, since as a soldier those are commendable attributes, but with Wenli it reaches the height of stubbornness since on several occasions his actions would have been warranted and for the greater good. His reasoning is of course understandable, but he is too persistent about it. 

 

Well it is true that Wenli admits that he could see himself living under Reinahard's rule, it isn't entirely without cause that he goes against it, since he is looking further down the line, and knows that Reinhard might be the only exception in the history of rulers who he could live under, and sees that ultimately a second Goldenbaum dynasty isn't away from reality. It wouldn't be long until people would again wish for a democracy, and as he points out himself; it is an never ending circle in history, and people are too different to live in peace for all eternity.

 

So I can understand his reasoning behind it, but due to the rumors that started circulating about his attempt to cause a rebellion, his plans that he had planned that would come into fruition only after 6 years failed and ultimately became drastic measures of action. Naturally Yang handled the situation quite astutely, but he should have just for once garnered power for it to have been executed to his wishes.

There exists an 25 minute OVA called Fate/Prototype which is exactly what you described. Haven't seen it yet, but the impressions by people on it seem to be favorable. However, there are no further plans for it, and was simply done as an anniversary for the series.

 

Also lol @ Saber being someone that every otaku lusts over. Well not surprising. Her design is simple yet unique enough to garner herself an iconic look for the franchise, and in addition to her deontological views and her stoic personality is probably something that people love / find interesting. 

 

Admittedly, what first really introduced me to the franchise was when I was looking for anime to watch I stumbled upon a picture of Saber, wondered what anime she was from, got recommended here on this thread, and one thing lead to another.

Yeah, I'll probably do one during my break when I got some time filled with gifs, descriptions and everything. I think a proper top 10 requires a lot of context, so I need to put some thought into what my personal standards are and what might make one strong series more enjoyable to watch for me then another strong one. But yeah, I think I will end up doing a proper one in a few weeks.

Yeah it really does take a lot of context and time. Kinda why I made it my "100 shows watched" kind of thing because it give me plenty of time to consider, re-consider and re-consider again. Not to mention perhaps a catch up on the earlier shows watched since it's been a little while now.
