Got to the end of the Warden quest in DAI. House was right, the choice was relatively simple. Still, interesting move on BW's part.

Perhaps it was a mistake to say flaw, but I still see it as one. Why? It's exactly what you said. The man is a brilliant strategist and tactician, he knows the battlefield better than most but will spend needless lives for the sake of his personal honour and romanticism.
 
So when I say 'flaw' I mean that Reinhard without war ceases to be. It's all I can say without spoiling things. The man thrives on it, and I don't think it's because he's a bad man. It's simply a flaw he has developed throughout his life.
 
Reinhard is just as idealistic as Yang, and maybe even more so. Since he was a boy the dude's been dreaming of reforms and a better galaxy for all to live in, detesting the Goldemblaum (sorry if I spelt that wrong) dynasty and an advocate of a more social government.
 
I think Yang put it best, it's not something "by the people" but "for the people" and that's the best way an autocratic government can work. But we know this already.
 
In essence, your quote says it all. Reinhard is brilliant at establishing social reforms and just simply doing things. It's pretty marvellous how in just a few months he did all this with little protest. By wiping the importance of the nobility off the table and supporting the middle/lower classes he essentially runs his campaign on the people's support (as well as the Military of course, which he took care of promptly and again on the people's support.)
 
And yes, that's another reason to love the dude. I think in some way, he is very aware of his own faults, and in others, blind to them. The latter, methinks, solely belongs to the realm of emotion, something he keeps to himself. Like I said 10 years ago, Reinhard's loneliness is heartbreaking. The man has many loyal subordinates, but very few friends. In regards to the former, it's the reason he is so open to criticism and opinion. He actively asks advice and will admit he's wrong.
 
As for the 'carrot and stick' method, I'm afraid I don't know entirely what you mean there. I have a few guesses, but don't grasp you're really saying xD
 
Oh, and yeah, once you finish LOTGH I can mention things I otherwise couldn't. And no problem about the spoilers, I need to redeem myself for spoiling Yang's death for everybody and their dogs.

No, I ageed that it was a flaw, though not that it was directed solely to his military capablities and more towards his belief system. But yes, agreed with your points.

What I meant by "stick & carrot", it is the method of utilizing punishments and rewards and find a proper balance how to use it, which Reinhard is skillful at (though not the point of perfection), which is a talent a leader needs to be able to use.

And you flatter me. It is just a blind guess. Ok, that blackmarket thing gave me a chuckle. Wouldn't be surprised really. I've seen some rather... questionable merchandise they have to offer on legal terms.

It's one of those that just doesn't hold an allure for me. Sci-Fi Political Intrigue definitely seems to be its strong suit, but I don't think it's for me.

I'll try FMA-Brotherhood to see how it differentiates itself from the Classic Version.

  It's a vast improvement though, but it's rudimentary. Still very enjoyable to be part of the intrigues, but too bad gameplay gets in the way. I mentioned how the subtlety was destroyed by me exploding sh*t in their courtyard xD

Well in all fairness, it is not that bad. It takes up causes and aspects to explore and delve into, and there are options available for the player to interact upon on how to move in a desired manner, but ultimately it is quite simplistic in its portrayal and its underlying focus on the matter is rather subpar--which is ever so slightly touching upon the issue of the Civil War and its members. This is the ideal set piece to bring up questions about ideologies, racism, class-conflicts, economics, and so much more. But no, it is--as you said--all rudimentary.

 

Neither, I managed to ally all three members upon a common cause. Which might sound impressive, made me go all "wut?". I don't know if this gets brought up later, but I don't see how they would suddenly go all "Okay, let's join forces and stop the breach, herpderp!"Heck, even Celene states that she doesn't think it is possible, then seconds later we are in an union. If this doesn't get resolved upon, then I will be in a complete WTF state.

 

But anyhow, I got to talk to Morrigan some more regarding my Warden and met my son. This was how I was during those scenes.
