If that size took more than 1-2 hours I'd probably die from first world problems.

 

Being Swedish does have a few benefits one which is amazing internet

Oh and I thought I had it bad. It would take me 1-2 days to download that but Jeez I doubt I could stand a week.

 

Not that I would ever download something as huge like that because before I know it I would go over my download limit and then I'll only have 2-5kb/s.

Finished Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

 

Well it goes without saying that it is an exceptional show when it comes portraying a war conflict in a realistic manner. Truly, there are so few shows that takes place in a fantastical setting who actually manages to grasp the essence of depicting the nature of humanity, and manages to convey underlying themes and analysis of civilization, along with featuring vivid characters and political intrigue, in an astute manner. 

 

In essence, LOGTH is a tale of human history, an observation of the philosophies and personalities that drives and change it. The show delves into the concepts that create societies, never afraid to question and defend every bit and piece of it, taking into account so many causes and aspects that I could make a list the size of your mum's shopping list (well I hope it is a long one, since if not my argument becomes invalid). It is not flawless on every regard, since certain factors gets a deeper focus and developed upon than others (from characters to politics), but what it does is more than impressive.

 

I'm not gonna be audacious and proclaim the show as an unrivaled masterpiece, but I would be damned not to say that this wouldn't be a worthy contender for the position. If anyone knows anything better, I would happily like to be directed towards it. 

 

In conclusion--I could go on and write essays on what makes LOTGH such an extraordinary show, but I hope to save that for later if I ever get down to write some blogs (there is certainly a lot I would like to write about)--so without further ado, I recommend this to anyone who values sci-fi war conflicts (or just conflicts in general), a rooster of great, distinctive characters and political intrigue. LOTGH has my seal of approval, and easily stands as one of my favorite shows.

Watched first episode of Clannad. Had a good chuckle over that girl's dad going all "What? You sure have a lame name. Why din't you name yourself Milky Way Great Universe? Much more manly!" Great contrast, when just recetly coming from LOGH, hahah!

Have to agree with Paragon. F/SN 2006 > Zero > UBW. You get more content to enjoy and certain plot points aren't spoiled to you by experiencing the prequel beforehand. Not mind breaking, however.

Ever since that happened I always write down the stuff I download just to be on the safe side.

 

Part of why I don't use streaming websites and download everything is because most streams I encountered are either clogged full with advertisement (adblock only helps so much), require registering or are capped at slow download rates that even with the best internet (I used to have a 200+ MB/s down connection, now after the move it's only 50 MB/s down), the videos load excruciatingly slow.

I remember having to download stuff at about 5-25 KB a second.. It's funny because now I hear people make complaints like "I only get 1MB a second" and I just laugh.

18 gigs is probably like 1-2 hours for me too if the source is decent.

True most streaming sites are indeed full of ads or have painfully slow download rates but I think that in my case downloading would make it worse in the long run so that's why I don't download anime. I mean one anime that isn't even visually THAT impressive (FSN 2006) is 18 gb? Jeez, that's a lot!

 

Also You can't believe how jealous I am right now.

 

At my very best my internet speed is 1 mb/s but it always falls down to 400+500 kb/s fairly quickly.

Used to have a 60/12 line but got upgraded to 100/100 fiber couple of months ago and you get awfully used to the new quality so fast! It's been really useful for watching loads of anime that's for certain and without it I'd never actually bothered with a few things due to their size. I really wish more people could get access to this stuff!

I don't actually complain when I get 1 mb/s just when it gets down to 2-5 kb/s.

Well, it's in native 1080p resolution (can't watch 480p anymore and if I download stuff, I won't settle for 720p if I can have the full HD visuals, I'm a sucker for quality) and x264 (usually means good audio quality with this codec) dual audio (EN, JP) and from the look of the file sizes (800-900 MB) probably uncompressed (again helping with quality).

 

I'm sure you could squeeze all that into a complete package around 3GB if you punch everything through a compressor, but quality will suffer a bit.

About 2 hours from Chicago in the U.S.

If I could get 100 k/bs constantly I would be content. The spans during the day where it drops below 1k/bs are the real torture.
