Gil just slapped her around, if anyone won't the 4th, it's him. Saber died, remember?
As for Excalibur, it's a wide beam of destruction..but not wide enough to destroy Riders entire army. A big chunk of it, sure. But not all. She would be overrun.
It doesn't compare to Ea.

Though you are right that she did reach the finals twice (??). What happened in previous holy grail wars is unknown. Saber is a potent class because of it's stats and abilities (instinct, magic resitance), but any class can be potent.
I'd really like to see some other saber-class servant. Frankly I find Saber overused. If Saber was male but with the same personality, she wouldn't be nearly as popular.

True, but Lancer's first battle was in his favor since he skillfully used his abilities to his advantage. With the cursed lifted and Saber knowing his abilities, the fight could have gone either way second time. Saber died by her Noble Phantasm deflecting from the Grail and hitting her, but yes Gilgamesh would have beaten Saber right then and there due to her weakened state. Well as Yandere Angel pointed out, it depens on the Master apparently and how strong her ability can be. Perhaps one attack wouldn't be enough, but if she can use a second or a third one, then that can be in her favor.

Anyhow, it is a bit pointless to argue since there are several factors that can favor each individual. I don't see the outcomes to be that prominent to place who is truly the strongest.

I wasn't referring to Arturia Pentdragon solely, but the class which she represents. It is mentioned in the VN by Rin that the Saber class managed to be the final combatant in all four previous wars. But yes, I agree that there should be other figures of the Saber class that the series could explore. As much as I like Arturia, it gets a tad bit tiresome having her around (especially since it takes the tension away from guessing how events will transpire since she is such a prominent character).

Gonna focus on Fate VN now that I have T&B and FMAB out of the way.

 

But gonna start watching anime films.

 

Have a bunch of Ghibi films listed of which, Grave of the Fireflies is the one I'm dreading. I've heard... soul crushing stories about that one.

 

Might give GitS Innocence a go if it's dubbed. I'm sh*t with subs when it comes to convoluted stuff like GitS.

 

Any other films that I should watch that don't belong to Ghibi? Count of Monte Cristo is one of them I know of.

The Garden of sinners is pretty good.

 

But those are like 7 movies so they're pretty long.

Garden of Sinners are certainly high on the list of recommended movies to experience. Currently on the third one, might as well try to finish the rest during this week.

Oberstein is definitely an enigma. But yeah, I lean more towards miscalculation too. It's great how they managed to add to his mysterious disposition with a scenario that was a total f*ck up for the character.

 

As for Hildegard It's why I was so sure of myself when talking about his Dynasty since I knew it could not have gone into better hands than hers. Yes, I agree completely, Hildegard is a better politician than most, perhaps the best politician in the series. To boot, she knows how the battlefield works! Were it not for her, Reinhard would have been a floating corpse in space.

 

It's hard for me to pick my favourite characters aside from Yang and Reinhard. But I'll give it a shot.

 

1. Yang.

2. Reinhard.

3. Oberstein.

4. Reunthal.

5. Hildegard.

 

Thing is, I really want to add Dusty to that list too. He certainly impressed me when Yang passed away. I also want to add Merkatz because who doesn't love that fella? So yeah, it's really hard for me to do that.

Reuenthal was originally one of my favorites, but then that unnecessary rebellion took place, and most of my respect for him dwindled. Dusty and Merkatz are cool too, but so are a lot of figures. Oh, and I completely forgot about Rubinsky. Well if nothing, LOGH has a selective rooster of great characters.
