It's pretty much just the mangas golden arc. They follow it closely so in a way I remember it well. Never watched the third, actually don't remember if I watched the 2nd. I just couldn't stand the animation style.. It looks OK during the battles and the odd scene (like the dual between Griffith and Gatts) but otherwise I just thought it kind of looked bad and didn't do it justice.

But yeah definitely feel free to share your thoughts on them!

It's exactly his flaws that make me love him so much. The dude had the potential of Reinhard. A competent military commander AND politician? Yet his harmatia, that damn tragic flaw that led to his downfall is just... HNNGGG to me.

 

I understand 110%, no 120% why anybody else would lose respect for him, and what he did certainly doesn't deserve respect. So I guess that I like characters like him in a way.

 

The hell he made Wolfgang go through is something else, though. I feel for the guy, really. He's probably the most decent human being in LOTGH

Tragic for sure, but letting his pride and ambition take the best of him and justifying his actions mostly on that basis, in addition going into battle fully well knowing the odds are not in his favor and not cementing a proper battle plan to combat the Empire, had the show throwing out most of what made him such a great character and turned him into an idiot. He always showed traits of pride and ambition, but never did I picture it taking the better of him, and even if it was, the way the show utilized it was poor imho.

 

I found the rebellion to be rather rushed and could have worked better with an additional episode or two.

That's a link for the Gaiden prequels. There are other sites that stream them, but lots of those sites don't even have the files up. I'm aware of torrents you can download, but if you're not into that, then here's where I watched them with no problems at all.

 

I'd recommend going through Spiral Labyrinth first then Hundred Billion Stars. If you're a big Reinhard/Empire fan then you'll love these. Yang only gets 14 episodes to him whilst the rest is dedicated to Reinhard and Siegfried.

 

As I mentioned before, it has one arc that I found one of the best in the LOTGH franchise.

 

Also, do watch the films, they're worth it, but do NOT watch Golden Wings, it's kind of the "Phantom Menace" of the series. Hell, Yang has brown hair and freckles in that one AND a different VA to boot.

In a normal conditions, Lancer would never have destroyed his Noble Phantasam (thus weakening himself) and remove the curse from Saber. Their initial fight was interrupted by outside interferrence. If it had continued, Saber would have been done for.

By the line of logic you're following, Saber would have easily defeated Gilgamesh is he lost his Gate of Babylon and was tied up as a pinata, thus, Saber is super strong and Gil is weak.

 

Same with Gilgamesh. She always gets her ass handed to. Except in the Fate route, where she gets Avalon (temporary invulnerability). Even then, Gilgamesh could have defeated her, if he just used the chains or burried her under a hail of swords. But Gil is OP.

 

Sabre is far from weak, but some of her opponents are REALLY good. Rider can spread his army to encircle Saber, making it far harder on her to do enough damage to his army before they close.

 

And Archer...well, Archer is Gil-tier.

 

Against other Servants she stands a far better change. Caster (due to her magic resistance) is in trouble. UBW Rider doesn't really stand much of a chance.

Yes well, adapting to unexpected incidents is all part of a war. Events that took place turned into Saber's favor. Sometimes luck wins battles / wars.

Don't see how you came to the conclusion regarding Saber / Gilgamesh. Don't recall stating anything related to such. If anything, the Fate route is a battle where they fight on equal grounds, and you know how that turns out.

 

But as I already said, there are several factors to be taken into consideration, and many relating aspects that can favor one Master or another. I don't see the outcomes being as evident as the rules for a "rock / paper / scissor" game. When I stated that the Saber class is the "insta win" class, that was me half-joking about it the statement since it is the class that has managed to get to the finals in all wars.

Yang Wenli completely broke me with his proposal to Frederica. That's possibly the most awkward thing that I've ever watched and even now almost 25 min later I still can't stop laughing at how it all played out. Yang, you awkward beautiful person have created a memory that I'll remember for a long time to come. Chessus.. that proposal!

 

Then of course in the same episode I encounter by far the most gruesome scenes that LotGH has shown up to this point. They don't bother me at all but I do wonder how the artist that drew them answered their families when they asked them what they had done at work that day

True, one reason why I am a fan of the system, not to say that it is perfect however. Some classes are a bit overpowered, because reasons apparently from what I've gathered. Also a bit skeptical about other servants of the same class being more powerful. With anime it usually falls in the pit where it throws all sense of tactics and strategy away in favor of more grandiose battles, which I've never been a fan of.

Same, but thankfully Fate/Stay Night doesn't fall into that category, nor does Apocryptha as well, even though it has Servants that would make Gilgamesh cry in fear.
