I love the new berserk movies. I've only seen the first one so far, but it was great. Really true to both the manga and the anime. On that note, is the second one viewable in the US yet?

I live in Europe so I have no idea. I do know that it opened on June 23rd in Japan. I've been trying to look up release dates for the rest of the world, but I can't find squat.

Personally, I don't enjoy Berserk movies in the way I do the manga, nor the anime. And that's coming from a guy who mostly doesn't enjoy manga.

Manga > anime > movies.

But it's an awesome watch if you don't expect anything similar to the other variations.

Yeah, I feel pretty much the same way.

I enjoy them for what they are.

AHA!

The change in profile pics to Ser Jory now most definitely proves that you are in fact Turnip Root/BJ/King Kale etc. My prediction earlier on was right. You have now blown your trololol load ALL over this thread.

Anyway, back on-topic: What does everyone think of the new Berserk film adaptions?

I have only seen the first one and I loved it. I can't wait for the second one to be viewable over here.

Though, according to http://kotaku.com/59...-the-first]this review[/url], it looks to be a bit rapetastic. Not sure how I feel about that, time will tell...

Welp, Berserk isn't exactly Disney material. Hell, Guts himself got raped by Donovan, which contributes to his trauma and fear of being touched. I think if you can handle Berserk in its entirety, you should be able to tolerate the rape scenes.

True, but to make that the central theme of the second movie? I am not sure if that is the best use of time and resources.

But, as I have not seen it yet, I shall leave that discussion for a time in the future when I have actually watched it. Until then....

I'm really REALLY enjoying Shinsekai Yori.

Original and omoshiroi stuff.

With it and Zetsuen no Tempest + many otherwise intersting shows, I think this season might be the best one I've followed anime in.

MushroomMagic you're so ignorant about comics it hurts. There are plenty of adult, mature and serious comics that aren't overflowing with "typical comic book BS".

Try V for Vendetta, Watchmen and Hellspawn.

I watched the Watchmen movie and WOW did that movie suck.  I hated EVERY single character in the movie and felt none of them had even a single redeeming quality, and the movie was WAY too long.  It felt longer than watching all three of the LOTR extended cut movies back to back but that's probably because the LOTR movies were actually good.
V for Vendetta felt like it was trying too hard to push a social agenda on us.  It wasn't a bad movie but that scene with the lesbian lovers wasn't even trying to be subtle in it's attempt to draw a political parallel to the gay rights/marriage debacles in the USA.  It's not the politics itself I find offensive it's the fact that they're arrogant enough to think I should give a crap about their political views enough that I see it pointlessly inserted into the film.

Don't know what Hellspawn is?  You mean the Spawn movie released back in 1997?  Even as a 14 year old I thought the movie was dog ****.

O MY GOD you FAIL so hard. We're talking about COMICS here, not movies. You can't judge a comic series on a f*cking movie adaption. We all know that the movies sucked. We do not disagree with you on that. But honeslty, anyone with at least 2 brain cells realizes that the original comic and the movie aren't the same f*cking thing!

Honestly, you don't know shit and your ignorance really hurts. Please, GTFO and go read the original comics. You'd be surprised how amazing they really are.

And no, Hellspawn =/= Spawn or that crappy Spawn movie. Hellspawn is a truely amazing graphic novel and a true piece of art.

Yeah most of the people in Canaan are crazy in one way or another, however even though most of them are crazy I still ended up liking most of the characters in the show.

Would watching the movies ruin anything in the manga?

Nope. But it could give a rather "unique" first impression.
