Nah it's clearly Halloween.

Merry Hallowmis, everyone!
Season's beatings!
102 episodes completed in LotGH and with only 8 left I'm confident I'll end up finishing LotGH tomorrow, a few days earlier than anticipated. Season 4 is solid but awfully pale compared to season 3 which was just magical. Hopefully the last 8 episodes bring some solid resolution to a few storylines in which some have been around for almost the entirety of LotGH!
And with that I'll be off for the night!

Merry Christmas thread. I mean... not like I care about your guys' merriness or anything... pfft
Merry Eggplant.

)

S3 is really the climax of the story.
S4 is focusing on tying loose ends.
LOTGH is some history book really, so it's end really isn't "an end" in the conventional sense.
Reminds me of the Silmarillion. Where it's like "the stuff happened so more stuff is going to happen afterwards."

Watched Jin Roh.
It's very dark and depressing. Didn't tare me emotionally or anything. It's just the story and such is.
A good movie, I have a very few issues with it, but all the same it's a solid 7/8 out of 10.
Recommend it to anybody who's into the human condition and enjoys seinen.
Yes, the human condition. Though it has some elements of internal politics and intrigue, it's essentially about humans.
It's also about deception, and there's a lot of role reversals playing about. With Little Red Riding Hood used as a metaphor through out the film, the role of 'wolf' and 'little red' really isn't defined until the end. So that's where subtlety comes in. The metaphor also provides a big "f*ck you" as a way of showing you how gory fairy tales really are. The parrallel is made apparent when SOMEBODY suggests their own little "fairy tale" where the reality is far more cruel.
Fuse (main protag) is an emotionless robot through out the film. You might think this err... 'crappy' in a way, but seriously, don't. Watch until the end you know why he is the way he is. It also comes as a big kick to the balls when he finally does show emotion in the end, making a sad ending even sadder.
It has lots of depth and like Ghost in the Shell (1995 movie) it's not really your typical anime.
So yeah, go watch Jin Roh for some depressing sh*t that won't make you want to cry in a corner.
It's also slow. Don't expect action from it. Apart from the start it's pretty much dialogue all the way through until the final scenes, but even then, it's very slow. As you know, I like slow things because I'm boring, but I'll just give you the heads up.
Still. it's a movie. So for me, there's always that little bit lacking in everything. Still haven't seen a movie where I thought it could've been longer or whatever. If it isn't an extension of a series (Rebellion) or a movie series (LOTR) it won't really engross me.
Apart from Grave of the Fireflies which told what had to be told from start to finish.

Looks like this Oshii dude who wrote this directed Ghost in the Shell (1995) and Ghost in the Shell innocence.
Wonder what other movies he's done, cos with that record plus that happy joy ride called Jin Roh the dude looks like he knows what he's doing.

Angel's Egg is another movie of his that I've seen. Still oozes that Oshii atmosphere, but it's a bit of an unusual one. Only 2 characters, almost no dialog and no action. Really heavy on symbolism. Still manages to be very memorable. Though whether it's actually enjoyable is another matter entirely.
Watched Jin Roh.
*snip*
Another movie to add to the list. With Clannad and Grave of the Fireflies already in there, I might as well buy a box of extra tissues.
Anyhow, appreciate your impressions on it. Definitely sounds intriguing.

Symbolism is a weird thing.
It can escape me or totally capture me.
The former is my fault so I won't blame the anime.
I hope for the latter, so it's listed for the future.
Might go for Garden of Sinners next. Last time I checked it wasn't completed. Is it completed now?
Garden of Sinners is something I'm looking forward too since it's a series of films, therefore I'll actually enjoy it a hell of a lot more.

I can definitely guarantee the intriguing part. Whether you'll enjoy it or not is different. It's a very unusual film.
As for your tissues with Grave? I don't think you'll need them. I'm just a big softy when it comes to these things ![]()

Being a softy only make bro that much more awesome!

Almost done with LotGH, only got the last 4 episodes left and just got to experience possibly one of the best facial expressions I've seen on a character.
Mecklinger's expression when he get to hear the voice of a fellow admiral for the first time. ![]()

You're gonna see one of the best faces from Julian himself.
And it's more like "F*CK YEAH" than amusing.
But yeah, that part was funny.
It really is the end of an era :-(
P.S
Fiction just touches my heart in places where little else will!
Apart from you bro.
You can touch all my places.

Hhhnnnnnnnggggg.
Sure feels like Clannad is giving me a hug while at the same time punching me in the stomach. Got 4 episodes left. Might as well finish it today.
1 to be exact.
But watch it all.
Because there's a nice OVA about pre-Clannad Tomoya and how he originally met everyone... well, not meet "everyone" but yeah... you'll see.
Oh, and there's a nice recap episode too.
