Picked up Psycho-Pass season 2 now with it being complete. With two episodes seen I can say that Akane is totally getting more awesome by each time I see her. Mika is bad and should feel bad but she doesn't because she's bad. One of the new enforces look like he does side jobs for forces of darkness or something. Not a face I'd trust. Lack of Kogami hurt as much as expected.

I have already seen people make comments calling him a moral ****** in the comment section so I wouldn't be surprised if the number of Shirou haters increased after this episode.

It has begun. Always happens and it's always amusing, it's like protags can't make mistakes(even though it fits the character and this case it was already clear he would do that) since

His ideal IS borrowed, Shirou is always going to protect someone closer to him over others, that's the real Shirou. Taiga and Sakura(Rin soon) are simply that important to him that he will pick them over the mass or in this case Saber. That is the real Shirou, and oyu think people would have caught up on that? Maybe I'm just bias because I've done HF?

And I agree with you but a lot of people will always find the actions of a character annoying even if they have reasons for acting the way they do.

 

Hell, Shirou is one of my favorite pratagonists in anime so I see what you mean.

 

Anyway, I just watched the last episode of the first cour from the FSN UBW anime. Those added anime scenes were great! Especially the ones with

Man ep12 is fantastic.  The new scenes where fantastic, even the change they made to the big scene was fantastic. Also the ending with the characters

both my uncles really enjoyed it. Don't think as much as some of the other FF's but still.

FF9 will always hold a place in my heart. There's not much that gets me as nostalgic as listening to the main title theme from it.

 

Wow I missed an FF discussion, well here goes.. IMO.. ehm click away if you don't want to deal with something long.

 

FFVI = VII > IV = IX > XII > X > VIII

 

Oh wait I'll just put this in a spoiler.. for more details. The short story is that the FFs have different things going on but most of them I had quite a lot of fun playing, so those markers are (sometimes) for small differences. I think VI is cool, I think VII is cool, I think XII is pretty cool, I like IX, IV.. ahh.. Final Fantasy.

First of all, I guess if you count spin off stuff Tactics is between IV and VII. I don't really know how to rate I, II, III, and V, I'm fairly certain I played V at someone's house or something, as well as I and II.. there are actually people that say everything after III was bad so I don't know what to say to that. What I experienced was pretty cool though so, probably up there around X I'd guess. II seemed cooler than I, over V (introduced Gilgamesh), and then over III.

 

I also did not mention XI because I haven't played it but honestly, I could see XIV moving into there somewhere, possibly around where X is just based on that game being a lot of fun.

 

You basically have 3-4 flavors, VI and VII are the Amano/Kitase/Sakaguchi situation, and quite honestly I did not find them to be very different from each other in overall enjoyment. I've seen so much said about those games but for me they were simply a lot of fun to play and it's not really anymore complicated than that. There are plenty of things to mention as far as why it was fun but this is probably long enough as it is so far.

 

Actually I think I said in this in another thread, but basically I don't see very dramatic differences between a lot of FFs. IV and IX I enjoyed basically just as much as VI and VII... it's like 98 vs 95 vs 93/100 or something, doesn't mean much to me. As far as IX goes it was basically pretty similar to VI and IV as far as I can remember. Although one thing I remember was they kept the constantly rotating camera thing from VIII (which wasn't in VII) and that made things take a bit longer.

 

VIII however is differently a wild one, because it well I posted this somewhere else but a lot of stuff going on that was eh, least fun gameplay system, one of the less fun worlds etc. I put this somewhere else but basically one dungeon is just copy-pasted as a circle like 15 times, it's not very satisfying to go through all that. However it did have it's moments like the assassination mission against Edea and stuff and I enjoyed that. This is more like 96 vs 78 or something.

 

Now X is where modern FF comes in, streamlined gameplay, more anime influence, still had it's moments but I wasn't as satisfied overall. I still did play it twice and the OST was cool.. wow.. long time ago now. Nojima/Watanabe/Nomura/Kitase are the names you see more often and they show up in XIII also. It seems to me this is where my own feelings and other people's perceptions differ more, since I liked it ok but unlike other Final Fantasies I wasn't like completely into it. The final boss had like an auto-res thing basically they kind of skimped out on the game part in certain respects.

 

Ahem, so continuing on you have Tactics and XII, which are made by the same guy (Yasumi Matsuno), the thing is if you like LOGH or stuff like that most of the games he makes are in a similar vein. The worlds and characters I would say are more GoT inspired than anything, most of his games are similarly themed from Ogre Battle, to Tactics Ogre, to Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics, and FFXII. A lot about demons, dragons, political warfare, Tactics Ogre was based on ethnic cleansing in Serbia, for instance.

 

I had played Tactics Ogre and FFT and was interested in FFXII, however Matsuno left halfway and I think it kind of just shows in the game. The remaining people seemed to be like, oh wow Balthier is so cool lets just have him do a bunch of stuff! Even so, the pieces that felt like the Matusno games from the earlier era were enough to push it past X, just because of how much I enjoyed those games. Also, I thought the combat and so on in XII was pretty cool, or I had fun anyway.

 

That was kind of complicated about XII but I don't think a lot of people really knew all that backstory but the experience (IMO) is like playing 2 different games in one so it seems trickier to summarize.

 

Generally speaking, I would say there has been a lot more to be said about the FFs earlier rather than later, and yet even one's I don't like provided a good deal of enjoyment, I'd still take them over all kinds of things.

I also must say XIV ARR has been pretty reminiscent of early Final Fantasy, lots of things going on that make me think it might be overall enjoyable than X or XIII perhaps.

 

Isn't FF 12 quite good as well? Heard a lot of positive things from it by TEWR.

 

I guess I'm kind of repeating myself with my above post but basically if you want a bunch of political intrigue/LOGH style stuff Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre: LUCT, and Vagrant Story are all probably better examples of Yasumi Matsuno games (Original director of FFX12). Tactics Ogre for instance was based on the Serbian ethnic cleansing, FF:T is kind of a GoT sorta situation. IMO XII was still a lot of fun, but Matsuno left halfway and consequently I didn't enjoy it as much as some other FFs. 

 

I liked it more than X though, still..

Time to start watching the episode that I stayed up for and only came out minutes before I went to bed.

 

Also.. not a fan of Shirou before so I do doubt this episode do change that going by what people say here in the thread but it's totally possible for me to start liking him, depends on the circumstances! Not to mention I'm approving of the Shirou that exist now a dozen times more than the Shirou that started the journey. Keep it up big boy!. The type of protagonist he is tend to he the one that I like the least. He's very well written though so can always appreciate that!

Very excellent episode! Absolutely love how it shifted tone like it did. It was incredibly entertaining during certain events. But it also had some tense moments that were executed very well. As always beautifully animated and well placed soundtracks, Ufotable know what they are doing more than well enough. So about Shirou, got no problem with his actions. He did exactly what I thought he would and almost everything that I said myself that he in my opinion should do. Caster is such an amazing character, I just can't have enough of her. Also, go Kirei!

I really liker that they changed the hostage scene for ep12. It just made Caster a better character by her actively seeking out the group instead of waiting. It just gives her more integrity.
