Ugh, this Fate route is certainly annoying. Shirou is an idiot with a martyr complex--his chivalrous nature and social mind set is close to borderline sexism, the story relies heavily on plot convenience, and its developments are quite sporadic. 

 

I wouldn't go as far as call it bad, since it does an able job explaining how and why characters acts the way they do and does compliment itself within the story, but it is an approach I am by no means a fan of. They way UBW develops upon several of these aspects is a lot better, I find. Especially in regards to Shirou's moral development, which is way more idealistic in Fate route and seems to be strengthened by events taking place rather than making him doubt it.

 

I'm gonna make a wild speculation here that in terms of Shirou's moral maturation; Fate route strengthens his determination regarding idealism, UBW creates a balance between idealism and cynicism, while HF has him absorbing the cynical mind set completely. 

 

 

Yeah the Fate route isn't all that great and honestly Shirou himself isn't as strong a character in that route as in the other ones.

 

I still consider Fate the route that introduces you to the cast, world and rules. It kind of fails in anything else since the only character that gets explored in that route is Saber while UBW and HF explore a lot more characters. 

 

But maybe I'm being a little too harsh since I don't like Saber as much as most people.

Romantic slice of life comedy is the best way to describe it.

 

Ah that kind. I'm usually not into that kind of stuff unless it has something special to it (see: Hataraku Maou-sama). In a scale from 0 (not funny) to 10 (falling off the chair laughing), how good is the comedy? From 0 (no feels) to 10 (I'm drowning in tears), how romantic is it? How often do the two trigger?

Heh, well I liked what his chaotic representation of the War was, basically how it showed the worst parts of the concept of the Grail and more.

It is funny, that was Zeros theme yet  except for Gil(and even this can be heavily debated), all the servants(even Saber as it depends who is her master) where weaker then the servants in Stay Night XD.

Wow, didn't recall Fate route was that bad. Well feel good about seeing a change in quality once you start UBW (or were the anime left) and HF. Once that it done, Hollow Ataraxia awaits you, which is better than F/SN.
