He changed?
I can't remember that.

Not all kids are the same.

Not all kids are the same.
Pretty much wraps it up.
Kiri ain't no normal kid to begin with.
Most kids in stories aren't anyway.
Do you really think you're gonna find an idealist like Shirou around your block?
How about a pragmatic anu- I mean magus like Rin?
Even Reinhard wasn't a normal kid.
At 19 he's an Admiral.
I'm 19 and I can't use the washing machine.
Not all kids are the same.
Most kids are. And there was nothing shown that pointed to him being different. That's what I meant when I said something went amiss with the character developement. You can't have a cheerful, flustered child one second and then make him into an emotionless psychopath in the next. It doesn't fit.
And whilst I do not claim to be an expert psychologist, even if such a sudden and complete change in personality is possible in such a context, I would still argue that it makes for a terrible narrative flow.

Dunno...
He did kind of see everything he loved burn to the ground.
That's gotta switch something in the ol' knocker.

We better ask Geth.
I bet he knows the secrets behind its use!

Considering the fact there have been cases where a young child killed their parent because said parent was a danger to them or did something the child hated, this action makes perfect sense in what was happening.

Probably a special edition of JUMP taught him.

Aye, but those cases are either triggered by direct physical threat, or a long going series of triggers that add up.
Psychology aside, if the change were realistical, or even if it only were realistical in its specific fictional framework, the narrative of it is subpar compared to the rest of the show. It's too much of a personality change too sudden with too little time for me as the audience to incorporate the changes into my expectations, or even develope false expectations the narrative could subvert. It just *plops* happens and that's it.
But if that is explained in more detail later on during the show, I'll leave it at that for now.
There's no point in me bunkering down when I haven't seen it all yet after all.

But enough of that for now. I do not wish to limit my perspective when it's still getting dealt with later on. It might make more sense to me with additional informations.

The problem is you're trying to apply normality to a character in the nasuverse, that's a big no no. All characters in the nasuverse have some type of big baggage or are abnormal. Not even this threads beloved goddess, Rin is "normal".

It's a bad day when you feel like Master of Gundams in the thread you mascot

You're most likely correct in that regard.
I assume the VN is more helpful into easing the audience into the Nasuverse normality than the anime are.
