I started watching that but I don't know.. It wasn't that terrible, but I couldn't get into the plot. It felt like I was missing something
Well my expactations from it is a mind **** and little else.

May the world never lay witness to a Hodgetwins anime

I watched the show when it was ongoing and it's a show that miss a lot. It got a good episode here and there but once it's summarized into one show it's really just a mess of things. A shame since the main idea behind it is interesting.

WAIT WAIT WAIIIITTTTTT
Don't take my word for it.
My understanding on these things isn't nearly as developed as yours.
"A lot" to me by me "a bit" for you xD hell it might even be underwhelming. Ghost in the Shell (at least second GiG) is really subtle with these topics (compared to Psycho-Pass/Ergo Proxy) so I might have evaluated wrongly.
I do guarantee its focus on geopolitics though. I'd love to know your opinion on the Chief Minister since I'm not quite sure where to put her myself.
But continue SSY, it gets better and better as it goes along.
Eh, it is not like I crave for an in-depth analysis and critique on what the show takes up. While certainly excellent if it does, there is only so much you can tell when your main narrative revolves around cybernetic law enforcement and the issues they tackle. Of course, depends on how much of a focal point said theme(s) is / are in the story and what the narrative revolves around that it wants to portray.
But yes, will watch it sometimes soon. Don't know about SSY, to be honest. Doesn't particularly interest me in any way. Same thing with Madoka. Rating wise, I'd give it top scores, but on an enjoyment level I more or less forced myself through it. It would hardly fall in my top 10 list of shows that I've experienced.
EDIT: Which reminds me, where is that Top 10 anime list you said you would do before new year's eve, Isi!!
Especially when certain episodes take up philosophical and / or psychological questions, yet end up focusing mostly on action scenes rather than further progressing upon said aspect. Sure, it works with the episode, but I just get hungry for more.
Heard that 2nd Season has a larger portrayal on internal politics, which I am interested about (best Stand Alone episode was the one that centered on this in first season imho).
The 2nd season of GITS is definitely more an aimless drifting and dialogue into various sorts of topics. If I'm not mistaken they literally spend one full episode as a kind of News hour type of episode, it's just a bunch of people talking around a table for the entire thing.
The 1st season is more typical anime plot/cop kind of show.
Personally there are things there that I'm not really a fan of in all this... but if you are motivated by that part over the action you would probably like the 2nd season more, although the first episode is mostly just a straight action situation.
Aimless? Well that sounds discouraging.
Well while I have problems with the first season of GitS, I wouldn't go as far as call it a typical cop show, since its portrayal on socioeconomics and corporate politics that gets a large focus in the show are great and not something that gets tackled so often in cop shows (and when they do, it is usually just meh or crap from the shows that I've seen).
Well any which way, I'll see for myself once I get into 2nd GiG.
Its the steam anime weekend sale!
I have no clue in this genre of games.
Waiting for the ghost to be let OUT of the shell
maybe i'll get this game, has a tantalizing offer.

Personally liked the second season of GitS a bit more than the first. It had a lot to do with each episode at least giving the feeling like they all mattered where as in the first season there were a few that in the end felt like they had no connection to what had happened in the first season

I looked. Most of it is ****. Though that's practically steam's motto at this point. I suppose I could get Blazblue i've been meaning to try that.

Shush you!
At least I didn't go "I don't like this show = bad".
Sayakas boobs, too good for him.
/hides from Isi
Chewin is just jelly he can't be a pretty magical girl
Ok, that made me giggle. Thanks for that.
Hey he can be a magical transforming boy though. There's an anime about that this season. I should watch that.

I'm considering adding it to the ones I'll be watching. If only for that reason
I still haven't decided what i'm watching this season yet. Last season it was nothing but sequels but this time it's all new things for me.

Agreed. Which is why I personally prefer second season, since not only are the filler episodes better but more relevant (that and Batou has a great episode
)

JoJo. That's all you need.
Been meaning to see Arise, but I'm waiting for a dub. Unless it's LOTGH, subs around seinen shows are hard to follow for me since I can't read as fast as I digest information. It happened to me with the early episodes of Psycho-Pass (cos I watched the EE.)
Supposedly it's nowhere as good as Stand Alone Complex, but maybe what's meant by that is the philosophical aspect of Ghost in the Shell. I don't mind it if it's focused around cyber cop stuff. It'll lose some substance but it should be entertaining if the characters are well written... hell, it might even turn out excellent.
Arise isn't really worth it IMO, unless you really have nothing better to watch. But you do. Have you watched Serial Experiments Lain yet? Kino's Journey? Mushishi? The Twelve Kingdoms? Azumanga Daioh? Excel Saga? Nodame Cantabile? Natsume Yuujinchou?
If you watch GitS Arise before any of those, I'm not talking to you anymore.
Ok that's a lie. I'll still be telling you that you've got better things to do than watch GitS Arise. I'd say even rewatching S.A.C. is probably better.
I'm probably sounding harsher than I ought to be. It's not really terrible, but it's just unremarkable overall.

I've never watched jojo.....

Oh some that I haven't seen mentioned here in awhile... I'm with you on Daioh, 12 kingdoms, not so much Serial Experiments or Cantabile. I haven't seen the others..
Mostly I just liked Haibane Renmei over Lain.. wasn't a big fan of the style over all. The music moments in Catabile were pretty cool though.
