Almost done with the first season of JoJo and episodes 19-23 have been just stupidly good. Need more of that, lots of that!

Definitely. Will be my "on and off" anime for now, where I watch an episode or two on a daily basis.

Chewin, 2nd GiG has a huge build up, a lot of the stand alone episodes have to do with the main plot. So it's kind of awesome once you reach the 4/3 episode climax because everything before that just hypes it up.
 
Omg, the things Section 9 do... f*cking great.

GitS SAC is one of my favorite anime, and hearing that 2nd GiG is even better makes me thrilled. Will post my impressions as the show goes along (or just a full one when I've seen it completely).

SAC 2nd GIG definately lives up to the excellence of the first season. It also trades most of the stand-alone episodes for a continous flow for the story arc, so if you like more story, 2nd GIG will please you.

Yeah, that's why I prefer it over SAC.

 

If SAC had given the same focus to the LM case the same way 2nd GiG did to the Individual 11 I might have switched sides and preferred SAC over 2nd GiG.

 

But there's also geopolitics, which I find more interesting (though I'm hardly even a novice in the field) over Corporate Corruption its intrigues.

 

I also preferred 2nd GIGs focus on the story. The first season stand-alone episodes were good, but could get tiring with only the little specks of story they mostly provided.

 

I however don't like the rather stale 2nd GIG villain. Can't go into detail though, that would be heavily spoileriffic, so suffice it to say I don't find him engaging at all.

Pretty close to finishing My Mental Choices Are Completely Interfering With My School, I've finally reached the swimsuit episode. I was beginning to wonder if they'd have one, but then I remembered that swimsuit episodes are obligatory for anime.

Done with the first season of JoJo and the difference between Jonathan and Joseph in terms of entertainment is hard to actually put in words. Jonathan is awfully dull but vital. Joseph is insanely entertaining and the world wouldn't be worth saving if he wasn't part of it. He does like his walkman too!

I found him great simply because of how absolutely immature he is. The man is scum. A pretentious bigot who wants nothing but the attention he "deserves" (and in many ways, he does deserve it.) He's an intelligent man, hell, a genius... but then you have this completely other side to him that makes him into such a big f*cking idiot at the same time.
 
LM was definitely the "better" antagonist... I suppose. He's far more unconventional and that's why I like his character, but he was never the absolute embodiment of irony that was Goda.
 
Remember how he died?
 
You could have laughed at just how tragic that was.
 
Here we are, a man who wants nothing but the recognition of his own talents and when he finally is given the recognition he deserves the dude's ego once again comes into play and BAM.

I don't consider warai otoko to be the first season villian/antaagonist. Imho, he's the plot agent/catalyst just like Kuze is for 2nd GIG.

For lack of better words, I liked the first season's villian better because there is no clear face to point at. Not a single corrupt politician who pulled the strings, no single corrupt police super-intendent, no single NARC hit squad leader or the Umibozu. They don't even belong all together as one group, it's just happenstance that several different interests aligned that caused the big events the first season is about.

 

I do however like his end, though not because I find it particularily peotic rather than it being the obvious (and still glorious) callback to the beginning scene of the 1995 GitS movie.
