General consensus i've seen in here is that it's a horrendous pile of crap. I does seem to be pretty popular though.
It surprises me just how many people talk about it like if it were the second coming of Ronald Reagan Jesus just enough that I want to confirm just how bad bro says it is. All I hear is "amazing story! Beautiful characters!" From the masses.

Well the first season was such a train wreck that the manga writer jumped on the team for the second season and declared it a spin off. If that's not a sign of quality I don't know what is.

Wait... the mangaka was part of the Ghoul team? Or did he get angry at the Ghoul team and helped them out for the second season and declared the first a spin-off?
Unsure. All I know is that he joined the team anime team for the second season. House was the one who said it i'll see if I can find his quote.

How bad was the first season of Tokyo ghoul? So bad Ishida intervened and made the team diverge from the manga and do the alternate story. You don't really that often XD

Does that adorable thing called Akatsuki get the spot light later on? For someone who's in the ending theme she seems more a side character than Marie is. Hell, Serra is more significant to the plot than she is xD

She's the main character in an arc in the second season where she's getting lots and lots of well earned attention

He was not pleased how much they botched season 1 and decided to write a new story that diverges from the manga, so yeah. When the author themselves get involved because they are not happy and due to complaints, something is indeed wrong. Really I was curious and watched episode 1 of season 2 and it's just so bad it's funny at this point.
Even a new story can't save this incompetent team. Just because the art is pretty is not enough.
So! Finnished the first episode of Psycho-Pass Extended Edition.
The setting appeals to me. The system that has data on everyone, their mental health and condition is both intriquing and terrifying. How it determines wether you're a criminal or not is quite disturbing and reminds me of Captain America 2, where Hydra developed an algorithm that could determine through data and genetics as well wether certain people would pose a threat or not.
Who knows wether the continuing digitalization in our world will lead to something like that in the future.
I also found out that Gen Urobuchi is behind this anime, so I'm ready to get my heart ripped out
I was going to watch Clannad after Girls und Panzer (but I'm not too serious on the idea yet), but I'm thinking I want to take a easy ride show with a good dub that's less than 50 episodes, would Spice & Wolf be the place to go, or do you have another idea?
And the post earlier listing anime, that's all the anime I have watched.
I say go with Spice and Wolf.
I couldn't get into the dub of Clannad, but I loved it subbed.
Despite my love for Clannad as a whole, there are a couple of times where I felt that the show dragged its knuckles and just stretched on.
Spice and Wolf never felt like that and the dub actors nail it (at least for the lead characters).
Also, any specific genre of anime that you feel like watching?
Not particularly, no.
Some good dub shows are perfect ways for me take a break from reading so much.
